No kidding. I was at a party once with Kip and he was complaining about a headache. I told him I had some Tylenol he could have if he needed it. He said yeah, I’ll take it, but I ain’t picking the cotton out

I hate to hear that. I had the pleasure of serving cold beverages to Kip at 2 different establishments over the years. He is a very nice and personable guy. Very genuine, very humble. I also thought he did a damn good job as Mayor. Downtown was back. Conventions at the River Center, strong Police.
We need Kip back. Does he still own that bar in Baker?

Sometimes I’m fully convinced that we’ll always take a previous version of our political opponents over the current version.
e.g. leftists today look more kindly on Bush, McCain, and Romney than they do Trump. There’s already articles about DeSantis being worst than Trump. I look more kindly on Obama than I do Biden. I look more kindly on Clinton than either of them.

Kip set up near us at a live music thing they had going on in downtown BR years ago, bullshitted with him for almost an hour. He’s a solid down to earth guy and was a fantastic mayor.

He really is a good guy. I was 19 I think at the time of that story. My parents were hosting some party and me and buddies were there with our gf’s for clout trying to get laid and he made a point to bullshite with us all. Kip is the only democrat I would vote for. But he’s not really a democrat by todays standards.

My mother loves her some Kip Holden.

I had a mutual friend with Kip when I lived in BR. Our friend used to have pretty big parties at his house that Kip attended. This was before he was mayor and he was a really nice guy. But he did run with a “ghetto” type of crowd.
But Kip was always a very down to earth type of guy.

Kip was the best mayor BR has had in my 40+ year lifetime. He was a genuine guy who honestly loved and cared for Baton Rouge. I miss him and I swear I'd vote for him for life if it was possible for him to hold office here that long.
The mayorship should beg to have even half of whatever Kip had to make the wheels turn here. He was a treasure and his time at the helm is missed dearly.

I saw Kip Holden at a Rouses one time. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

He never let being married keep him from having an active dating life. He did seem like a good mayor though, and loved being in the spotlight!
