Michael wore his uniform to Connie's wedding in The Godfather. Any of you motherfrickers want to say something about him?

Oh my god have y’all ever met a woman or been to a wedding?

I thought it was black tie optional. How did he ignore that?
Black Tie Optional means either a tux or a dark suit, white shirt and dark (preferably solid) tie. It does not, as some people think, you can wear a black tie tux or pretty much anything else you desire.
One could argue setting a dress code for a wedding, even after six, is a little over the top in a day and age that casual Friday is bleeding out to the entire week and ties are more and more rare with suits. One needs to be cognizant of the means of those you invite as well. Just like destination weddings be aware if you have people on the guest list for whom attending or meeting a dress requirement might actually cause financial hardship.

These kids grow up to be narcissists and sociopaths.
It's a sad state of affairs when military dress is considered offensive. "That just won't do"! "Who does he think he is dressed like, 'That'"!?
The irony of you being offended by all of this.
And no one is offended by the military dress other than this self absorbed bridezilla.

Black Tie Optional means either a tux or a dark suit, white shirt and dark (preferably solid) tie.
So by accepted étiqueté norms he followed the dress code exactly.

You're definitely a rational and calm human being right now.

I'm not saying I agree with this assessment, but the context makes it sound like she found it douchebag-esq rather than that it "hurt her feelings".
My question is why the fully grown "son of husband's family friends" was invited to a formal black tie wedding in the first place.

Questionable move on his part, and definitely a bad move on hers.
The misogyny in this thread is really sad.

I like how you didn't address the rational part.

or a high school diploma
Per capita, there are more high school and college graduates in the military than the US as a whole.
You need a college education to be a commissioned officer. The "young Marine" could have been a recent ROTC graduate that just got a commission.

I bet this person in question wore his fatigues on the flight to the wedding and was offered and accepted a first class seat from someone sitting in coach.
