Nice to know our tax dollars that go to the military don’t go to teaching class.
Would you prefer your tax dollars going towards the military telling people they should care more about the bride and groom when they go to weddings?

Help me understand why this would bother you.

It’s just douchey, I would think the same if a physician wore a stethoscope or a policeman wore a badge. We get it, you’re in the military, but at the wedding you are just another guest. Why do you need to bring attention to yourself?

A sign that you're getting older and out of touch is when you have a difficult time understanding the world around you. Not saying that to be rude, but just stating a fact. Generational change is a given, and customs will come and go. It is what it is.

You’re very right. And that’s why I’m trying to understand this. But Military men wearing their dress uniform to formal events has been around for centuries. Why the change now? I’m not judging it or anything, I still have my Class A but have not worn it it in over 20 years and won’t wear it again until I’m laid out in my casket. I just want to understand why now it’s frowned upon when not too long ago it was not only normal but expected. What I’m trying to understand is why is it so negative now.

You were an officer. You don’t count. We’re talking about young enlisted dudes trying to get laid at weddings.

It was the queen’s ball or something. Not the night of the parade. It was a fancy black tie event.

Ok. Thank you for your reply. This is helpful. So what I’m reading here is nowadays when someone wears a military uniform it’s viewed by some as an attempt to draw attention upon themselves. Now help me understand what makes you think wearing a uniform means someone is trying to draw attention to themselves.

It's not any justification of this psycho bride's behavior

I don’t think anyone is siding with the bride, she’s obviously a psycho bitch, but the guy is a douche and an attention whore as well.

Darth, stop acting like youre some old WWII or Vietnam vet.

You’re in your 40’s. You played in the sand in Desert Storm.

You’re being a douche right now.

You don’t think 2LT’s have the same impulses?

Wear the tux and the CAR. Have confidence that you’ve done more shite and are in better shape than the other dudes. Or have your buddies talk you up to the girl (“this idiot just got back from X/Y/Z”). It works better getting laid anyway.

And if you haven’t deployed, then I think it’s definitely kinda douchey to be going around wearing blues, man. I’ll be honest about that.

Its not my fault you’re held to a different standard bro. There’s a reason the phrase isn’t “enlisted and a gentleman”

Slightly snowflakey here.

It wasn't a military wedding. It's a weird move.

Call them Vetflakes.

I'm a Marine and I would never do that when I was active or now.

I understand her reasoning and the day is most certainly about her.

Dress blues are sexy as frick with a nice fruit salad, but a Marine - regardless of rank - can afford a nice outfit for a wedding.
