Because some of us don't view it as an inherently evil symbol and respect the people who fought and lived under it in the 1860's.
Not everyone who supports the flag is a knuckledragging redneck racist. Of course, this generalization is happily tossed around by today's social warriors who are supposedly fighting against generalizations.
The problem is you lack self awareness and historical context. It's totally irrelevant what "you" or "some of us" think about it. You've completely lost the plot.

And because of this, we will have no more senseless black on black crime(I forget, "black lives matter" - unless of course, you're black), more black guys that father children will now stand up and be daddies to said children, and there will be an insistence by black community leaders that living in the government teet is a short term fix not a lifestyle? If that's the case, I'll pay her bail.
Up vote! Finally someone with some sense.

Haven't read the whole thread. Has anyone mentioned how big of a count she is?

Not sure, but if you disagree with what she did you are a racist.
If you enjoy watching Dukes of Hazzard you are a racist.
Basically, if you don't immediately get triggered and start lecturing everyone at the sight of a Confederate flag you are a racist.

A response like this shows you are either ignorant and young or both. Or simply not educated.

So you found a couple of quotes and that means everyone in the old south thought the same way.
Overgeneralize much?

Did you read what he was responding to?
You can argue that the war was fought for more than just slavery, but the Confederate leaders openly admitted it was the main reason from breaking from the union.
The cornerstone address is pretty damning

Yes, because everything a Vice President says is gospel. Everything Dan Quayle, Al Gore and Joe Biden have said defines the purposes of their President.

Well it wasn't just the cornerstone address. Countless letters between Confederate leaders all corroborate the cornerstone message. Not to mention the quote the person decided to respond with. I would love to hear your take on the main causes of the war with text to back it up while addressing the role of slavery.
Also, comparing the political system now to the political system them as equals is outright laughable.
Anything else?

Anyone who says that slavery was not A factor in the formation of the Confederacy and the Civil War is delusional because that was a key element of the Southern economy, which was threatened by Northern poltical actions (both tariffs, as well as restrictions on territorial expansion).
That said, states rights/state sovereignty and the perceived (and ultimately accurate) threat to the Constitutional order was the driving purpose of secession and the War.

100% accurate and true.

I haven't heard anyone say slavery wasn't a factor at all, just that it wasn't the only factor , just as your second paragraph states....

Correct, but the supposedly important "Cornerstone" speech is cited as support for the assertion that was all that it was about and states rights/state sovereignty is just a facade.
