I say, shut the hospital down. No one in, no one out. Lock the doors, seal the windows and place a big bubble around the entire building.

Then monitor and treat every person in the place until you are sure who has it and who doesn't.

All new cases or people that are potentially at risk bc the were in contact with someone in the hospital, bring them to a tent city in the desert and treat them there.

They didn't take charge like they should have. You can kind of tell the director isn't a take charge kind of guy.

if the medical staff at the hospital would have known the guy had Ebola that would have been the most logical solution. However, he arrived at the hospital in an amberlamps, then kept in a non isolated area for a few hours around other patients. they would have still had to line up the Air Med to get him the the closest specialized unit which is Nebraska

quote:

Don’t assume that moving patients to a specialized unit is best, said Dr. Eileen Farnon, a Temple University doctor who formerly worked at the CDC and led teams investigating past Ebola outbreaks in Africa.

“It is also a high-risk activity to transfer patients,” potentially exposing more people to the virus, she said.

How about the nurse/er staff who sent him home with a 103 fever after he told them he came from Africa.... 3 days before he was admitted? Where's the hospital responsibility here?

Is it the CDC or the hospitals responsibility to train the nurse on how to treat a possible Ebola patient?

Everyone wants the Gubmint to shut the frick up until fear creeps in; then they clamor for protection and lament the lack of regulation and intervention.

Nah. Were these nurses one of the first ones in contact with him or were they the ones taking care of him once it was known he was positive?

Yeha, you laugh at typing and auto correct shite to deflect from the topic.

And when you are the world superpower, you don't run...But you also don't let the problem spread and get worse!

Listen nit wit, at what point do you stop him from getting on the plane? If he projectile shits on the window in the concourse?

Tell me this, what would America miss out on if these people weren't allowed to come here?

ABSOfrickINGLUTELY NOTHING!

And you don't let a virus that is an epidemic in other countries walk into yours unchecked! PERIOD.

Again, I bet if the travelers form that country had to be in contact with your family upon arrival, you would have a different view. But your liberal arse just wants to hide behind the big government and expect all to be handled correctly....when has that happened before?

Everyone in the world knew about the Ebola outbreak at the time, why should a hospital wait for the CDC to institute a policy looking out for potential patients? What kind of healthcare professional sees high fever, other symptoms, + time in Africa and sends that patient home?

Hospitals make serious mistakes every day, this one is just bigger than most.

he didnt tell them he was in Africa until his second visit to the ER

quote:

Duncan first sought care at the hospital's ER late on Sept. 25 and was sent home the next morning. He was rushed by ambulance back to the hospital on Sept. 28. Unlike his first visit, mention of his recent arrival from Liberia immediately roused suspicion of an Ebola risk,
