My parents still have that map at home. I had a laminated version I used to navigate my bike routes to go see girls, ride to downtown BR, etc. Late 80s were fun like that.

Anybody know what year Corporate from College to Jefferson was set up?

I'm thinking it was early 90s. Then the Jason's Deli shopping center/Movie theater/Bocage Lakes was all built.

I know it stopped at the Marriott (was the Hilton)LNB/Premier Bank/Bank One (now Lamar)

When did they build Oak Villa or whatever it is that connects to Joor?

I thought it was there as long as Cortana was.

same here, it must have been shortly after 84 because I know it was there at least by '90.

I was down here in 89-90 and worked in the Corporate Two building. Corporate extended all the way to Jefferson at that time, but it was new and the only things there were trees and a pasture. The Corporate Two building is still there but at that time it was the 2nd-to-last building on the left before you hit woods.

It was built pretty much as it is today, 4-lanes with street lighting (no turn-offs along the median that I remember, but that was a loooooong time ago).

Thanks, that's even a few years before I would have thought.

The "Proposed U.S. Olympic Training Village" would have been nice.

Corner of Burbank/Highland.

You obviously failed to look at the map. Siegen lane did not turn into Sherwood Forest Blvd in 1984.

Coursey stopped at Stumberg.

I lived back in Parkview Oaks at the time. It was nothing but woods at that time. Had to take the long way around to get to Jones Creek area.

I knew what you meant. I still remember that being built. It used to go straight and you had to turn right then left to get on Sherwood.
Back then, we'd take that left on Julia Aubin to get to Warehouse Foods. .

I wasn't around to see all of this back then. However, I've heard my mom say that exact same thing.

Anyone know what happened to the proposed U.S. Olympic Training Village shown on the map in the curve of Burbank near Highland? The only thing I could find on it was a blurb in the Danville Register out of Virginia in 1977.

Danville Register Link

$500 Million was a big project. It looks like, and I'm assuming, financing was the issue. I'd be curious to know if that is why it did not happen.

I lived on Gardere then...won't even use it as a cut through now. Yep, things have changed a lot.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was in the 2000s. That bridge on Tom Dr. for example was not even finished until 2000.

why isn't Millerville Academy listed on that map?

Did you go to Jefferson Terrace. People are often skeptical when I tell them our bus used to bring kids home back there and that the duplexes and apartments were very nice on NW side of Gardere in 82-83.

Louisiana O&G Crash. It was probably proposed when we still had the Pan Am Games and economy was booming. You could potentially train year-round in South La for outdoor sports is also what made it attractive.
That's my guess.
I remember thinking it was going to be built right in our backyard. That was cooler than going to Space Camp to a Track&Field enthusiast as a kid.

Good question. I know I played Babe Ruth Baseball at Millerville Academy Ball fields in 83.
