The train will break down every time it crosses Leake ave and Oak st.

With that attitude we should never do anything to improve our state. Let’s just rot into archaic obscurity.
That shite is exhausting.

Not Baton Rouge's airport. And these train stations aren't going to be the size of an airport either.
Other fricking cities have no issue with this. Cabs wait outside the casinos here and you don't think they can wait by a train stop?

You live in Nashville.

This is why LA sucks.

Can you imagine how quickly you'd get mugged at some of these stations? Lol.
People get mugged and murdered at Birdies in Luling just as easily.
Plant Contractor Carjacked and murdered from gas station parking lot in 2017

How do you think most places are protected these days?
You want armed guards carrying AK 47s?

No, but the ones guarded with AK 47s don't have much of a crime issue.

Serious question. Have you ever been on a commuter train?
I understand you are petrified of crime, but your argument is really weak if you think robbing people on a commuter train is a solid idea.

This thing can be successful but it will need:
1) Plenty of free parking at each station
2) Free onboard wifi
Reality is, most riders will be headed to/home from Downtown NOLA, Both Baton Rouge stops, and the airport.
there needs to be some kind of shuttle system or something to get from the airport stop to the new terminal.
As far as the other three major destinations, it would be great if reliable public transit was available at all three. I can't speak for the BR stops, but the streetcar going to UPT in NOLA helps this a lot.
As others have said, Uber is a gamechanger too. Gives much better options once you get off the train.
Cabs suck.

And the best part is people not having that attitude. Feels like this city is always trying to move forward and the people are behind it (minus the transit plan ironically).
Baton Rouge hasn't changed in 30 years and feels like no one there wants it to other than "less taxes".

I'm 6'5, 260..I'm the least bit worried for myself. Moreso other vulnerable people. Also not concerned with people being robbed ON the train.

So just being robbed in general. I'm right there with you man.

Charge $30+ per commute so it’ll weed out the rift raft. Make them nice, leather seats, work tables, food and bev cart. Profit!

There will be 3 different trains, each named:
The Library
The Loop
The Gravy Train

There wont be an Amtrak agent checking tickets before you get on. Controlled access to the platform then random checks while the train rolls.
I know a short track rail isn't the same... but when we rode the elevated train in Vegas... I never saw an employee. Buy ticket from kiosk, put ticket in gate, gate opens, get on train.
Only issue I see is if they want to charge different prices depending on how far you go on the train.

While certainly useful, i don't buy that $260 million figure at all. Proponents of these sort of plans always state a figure and then by the time people figure out how much it will really cost too much money has been spent to back out.
While i would benefit from this and use it if it gets built, i personally don't think the funds could be far more useful in other areas.

I'd settle for highspeed rail. This service will likely take 2.5-3 hours to travel from BR/Nola. I'd rather drive
I thought this was a highspeed rail? Who the frick wants to sit on a train for 3 hours instead of driving? If it takes 3 hours, they might as well save the money until better technology comes out

What reasons are they not behind the transit plan?

I agree, but you can't jump from step 12 to step 768. That seems to be the case with BR and much of LA. They think they can just propel themself into the high speed train realm, when they can't fricking do common sense things.
