The one being built between Houston and Dallas will be 200-220 MPH. As is the one in California. The one from Nola to BR is being billed as "high speed rail", too. So, that's still a minimum of 110-125mph. With five stops at less than 3-5 minutes each, there's no reason this trip can't be a 90 minute trip.

Can you imagine how quickly you'd get mugged at some of these stations? Lol.

I would drive 90 minutes with no traffic rather than 1hr in stop and go traffic.

Time isn't as big a factor as people think.

As someone who has done both, I’ll tell you that you are dead wrong.

So, you want us to have them drive back drunk

I never poised that as a solution.

If LA can figure out how to secure the station area, sure. But I have my doubts.

Ooohhhh. So you are saying the train will mean college kids will now go to New Orleans to drink.

I assumed they were already doing that.

does this $260 million include funding to rebuild the bridge across the Bonnet Carre to increase the speed limit beyond 10 MPH?

and this doesn't happen on a Saturday night in NYC, Chicago, Paris, Berlin...??

Yeah I don't get it, all I used were trains in Europe.

We need something better than the fricking bus that gets stuck in the same traffic as everyone else on 10 and 12.

Yeah I bet that commute is rough. But come on. You gotta be exaggerating a little on the “60 Mins dead stopped” part

And like you've said, they've had 100 yes to figure out the policing necessary. I don't trust LA to figure it out in less than 500 years.

We just copy from them what works? I can visit their officials for a week and come back with a plan.

For all you baws that think you’re gonna hop a fast train to the French quarter, drink all night, then hop a fast train back in the wee hours, you’re gonna be deflated when you realize this thing is gonna run like twice a day.

Not sure why you’re getting downvotes because it’s only going to run a few times per day at most. You will have to plan your day/weekend around it, just as you would a flight.

The proposed rail stations? You tell me. Are they in place? Have you travelled from the future to tell me they are safe and secure?

Im assuming the biggest concern, to you, is the NOLA station. It is secured at night already.

The rest will probably just be a gate.

Your trust in LA's implemntation of said plan is the hindrance, IMO.
