20.
I am being facetious but dang I would love to see a day where Louisiana can come into the 21st Century like everyone else has (well maybe not Mississippi

A lot of the traffic is caused by the people and trucks passing through... Make it a toll. They don't live there to pay property taxes.

I don't think they understand how NTTA works. There is no bond to fund D/FW toll expansion. It's all private and not up for vote. Bonds do not cover their roadways, privatization does. NTTA and banks.
That's maybe why I have been confused at their responses

So where do you guys think would be the optimal place to put such a bridge?

I would push for a Loop/Bridge legislature. A bridge will not fix much without a bypass.

Probably connecting WBR with Ascension would be my best guess

Louisiana’s assessed property taxes are among the most favorable in the United States. In fact, they are the lowest when analyzing a few metrics. Residents of Louisiana pay the lowest median property tax in the country with a median assessment of $243. An average of 0.45% of each individual’s income is paid towards property taxes, which is also lowest in the nation. Finally, Louisiana property taxes are an average of 0.18% of the property’s assessed value. This is the lowest ratio in the country.
I don't know if you live in EBR or not, but these numbers are NO WHERE CLOSE to being accurate for Baton Rouge property taxes. Mine are not even in the same ballpark. Your stats include all of Louisiana so my guess is most of the state assessments are relatively low due to the fact that very few people actually want to live in rural Louisiana and if they do...they are not building massive homes because they realize that if they had to sell them...they'd be facked! Can you find me a stat on Baton Rouge property taxes and then come back?

But yet we spend money in BR, buy fuel. ect.

quote:yea, it's true. but they did not want a loop anywhere near them, and getting them to agree on the location of a new interstate will prove to be just as difficult as it was during the BR loop process.
And yet, at least half of them commute to BR 5 days a week / shop in BR on the weekends / go to LSU events.
the overwhelming sentiment is that they moved to get away from BR, traffic included, and they are not interested in helping solve "BR's problem". it's not a secret that NIMBY killed the loop.

Do you own property there? If not then it doesn't matter. They're proposing a property tax not gas.

dont quote me but i do not believe the property taxes go toward infrastructure. It goes to school districts.

OK, trying to get my ducks in a row. Here is an example of how NTTA bailed out/worked with Texas as a private entity
The $3.2 billion that NTTA paid for the right to construct, operate and maintain the Sam Rayburn Tollway (formerly State Highway 121) is currently being used throughout the region to fund many municipal and non-tolled county transportation projects. Scarce gas tax funds that would have funded the road’s construction are in turn used elsewhere for other roadway projects.
I short, NTTA works in concert with the State and TxDOT to build infrastructure while allowing TxDOT to reallocate at the same time. In turn, NTTA has the rights to collect tolls but is solely responsible for maintenance, construction and collection enforcement. LA needs to look to NTTA for advice.

quote:that's great for an average value from all of louisiana, but in baton rouge, you're off by almost a factor of 10. i own properties in various income levels in town, and they are all right at about 1%.

Oddly enough the suburbanites deal with the most traffic. We live close to school and work.

That's sort of why I was asking. Maybe start around Grosse Tete, cross the river at Brusly? But then how to connect that to I-10/12?
