How is everyone’s kids holding up through this? I am getting worried for mine. They have been out of school since March.

My younger cousin died of suicide in July after he lost his job, home, and girlfriend. And now we are nine months into this mess...this is hard for so many people. I am a teacher and this is concerning: I am glad we started back traditionally.

Prayers for that family and all those impacted. It’s a tough time for many, be extra generous, gracious and kind to others.

My prayers are with his family, I’m sure they are devastated. Not to mention the ptsd for the kids in class. However covid isn’t entirely to blame, mental health has and continues to be an issue in the world

Gun control had nothing to do with this. The parents who own the gun should have had that gun locked safely away.

Read the article.

The long term implications from keeping kids from school will be catastrophic. Very sad.

Our youngest is a little older but it's still not good for a teenager either. They need to be around their peers.

They've had very few Rona cases at school so far too and the kids we know barely had any symptoms.

Good lord, how old is a 6th grader? Regardless, way too young to even be thinking of this. I don't even know how someone this young can even has suicide come into their thoughts.

Mine just started back to school this week. After 9 months of being away from their peers, they were BEGGING to go back. Chilling on the couch in your pj's is fine for a while, but it sucks as a lifestyle.

Absolutely horrible and sad. But frick the media for their sensationalist headlines. So the class was in session but they didn’t see nor hear anything, so why even mention and make the headline that he did it in a zoom class meeting?

Sensationalism over a child’s suicide. This is where we are as a country.

Ask yourself... without lockdowns would the child have done this? Maybe. Maybe not - but it's reason to start questioning the antisocial aspects of so-called Covid prevention.

I have a 6th grade son. I can’t imagine the horror for that family and those classmates. This Covid thing is minimal illness for 99% of the population and the media is the fricking devil for what they’ve created. My son tested positive a month ago. Lost taste for a week and was sleepier than normal for a couple of days. THAT’S IT. There’s no reason to shut down schools.
