I was there on a business trip recently. The street is all torn up... but the stench is 110% fully intact!!! 100+ years of piss, vomit, spit, and spilled drinks.

I can't imagine they would dig up such an historical area without some sort of archaeologist presence.

You're telling me that there was no archaeological work or supervision before and during work done at PP?

If this isn't completed by Mardi Gras, the economic impact would be devastating.

Hell - Not having it done by the Saints first home game of the regular season is going to erase healthy chunk of change...

I haven't set foot on Bourbon St since the night the Saints won the Super Bowl. But I'm going to visit it soon to check out the major shitshow in person.

Was on bourbon yesterday and several bartenders I know are still doing well even though it's slap middle of the slow season.

Nah. That game is against New England. A little construction isn't going to stop people from heading down to the quarter.

I don't doubt it.

I imagine the individuals/establishments taking less of a hit are those whose clientele includes a good bit of:
- Courthouse/TV station/etc. employees
- "White collar" conference attendees staying at walking distance upscale hotels
- Locals who have an assigned contract parking spot
- Industry employees with vehicles (but are drinking closer to work then catching an Uber instead of driving to their regular spot after shifts)
