It isn't like this is ripping up Mullberry Lane in Mandeville.
There are pipes and crap a few hundred years and god knows what else under there. Lots of stuff they didn't have on drawings to be ready for going in.

In an area prone to settling issues, pavers are completely illogical.

Thank goodness it's being managed by the Mitch Landrieu administration, or I would be worried. LOL!

Honestly, it looks better now than it does during Mardi Gras.

And were there any archeological studies done while digging? Seems like a big waste if there weren't.
The goal of the project isn't to find 100yr old cans of Jax, it's to improve drainage. As long as the latter is accomplished (especially if it's before Mardi Gras) then it's a win.

Does it still smell like used wine?
Wine smells better than piss, which is usually what I smell when I go there.

This.
They're not digging into hundreds of years of strata. They're removing asphalt.

Did you watch the debacle of them taking down the statues? They laugh at building codes and OSHA.

We Texans can tell from this one picture this project is going to drag on and on and on...
Something is obviously missing and it's a huge miscalculation.

It's still looking better than Louisiana Ave. Here's a real live look.

No, but I can imagine they were probably more at risk from themselves than they were from the anti statue removal crowd.

We Louisianians can tell that this project is going to drag on and on and on because it's being done in the state of Louisiana (NOLA is always the worst too).

There may very well be an archaeologist onsite. I can't imagine they would dig up such an historical area without some sort of archaeologist presence.

Well, it's a public project so, yeah, they would be paid by the taxpayers.
