Bought a winning scratch-off from a crackhead; bad karma?

So the other night I was stopping at a gas station to fill up DaBossmobile. I walked up to the counter (yes, I pay cash; I like not having my card compromised) and a gentleman in front of me bought five $2 scratch-offs. I’m no mathematician, but I’m pretty sure that amounts to $10. He walks out and I pay for my gas then go to my car. He follows me and asks if I can spare “a couple dollars”, like he didn’t just spend $10 on scratch-offs.
Normally I’d just say no or I don’t have any cash, but I pulled out a $5 and told him I’d buy one scratch-off from him. Surprisingly he agreed. I fill up and go about my day. I get home and scratch it off, turns out I won $20! I kinda felt bad so I drove back to the gas station to give it back to him if he was still there, but he was gone. Do I have bad karma on my way, or am I good to go since I had the thought to try to give it back?

If you would have just told him to frick off like any other red-blooded American, he’d have twenty bucks and you wouldn’t have a guilt trip.

You should go back tomorrow, give him a bite of 4th of July grilling goodness, then slap the taste out of his mouth. Let him know he needs to live like a man, not begging and doing crack.
