One can make all those type of excuses they want. They shot and killed indiscriminately. Those victims had nothing to do with the depression or their misfortunes.

Bonnie and Clyde were legit psychopaths.

Any more B&C/Uvalde analogies?

They didn't go around trying to just kill random people like the Uvalde shooter. They had a very clear motive and the innocent people they killed were trying to stop them from the motive. Now whether their motive was right or wrong is up to interpretation.

And I include law enforcement officers in the “innocent people” camp, they were just people doing their jobs and trying to protect their respective towns, they weren’t responsible for the hard times of the Great Depression anymore than B & C were

They were caught unawares on a country road
Now they're pickled with formaldehyde
They hankered for fame and a legendary name
But only death came for Bonnie and Clyde

Ah, now we've gone full minority report in our justification of denying due process.

They were 100% cold blooded murderers that deserved much worse than the quick death they got. I can understand criminals like DB Cooper having a cult following, but not those twats.

Well they had both done so already, and so had the Uvalde shooter. So the analogy to minority report is totally and completely unfitting

The Barrow Gang was Clyde. Bonnie was along for the ride. She's not known to have killed anybody and almost always waited in the car during robberies. Buck had gotten out of prison and was trying to go straight until Clyde talked him into joining up again. Blanche was only there because she was hopelessly in love with Buck. The rest were minor players who rotated in and out at various times.

Clyde was a petty criminal until a stretch at the notorious Eastham prison farm turned him vicious.

It’s not at all up for interpretation, murdering those innocent people was wrong. Millions of others experienced hardships during that time and didn’t kill innocent people.

Has anyone ever heard the conspiracy theory that the Mafia orchestrated a media campaign glorifying Dillinger, B&C and their ilk in order to deflect attention from themselves?

This entire period only lasted about a year and a half in 1933-4, but it still has something of a grip on the public imagination.

IIRC guards ignored his claims that his cellmate was raping him?

Bonnie & Clyde we’re good people, just misunderstood. They were putting the funds from their last heist into community college. They wanted to do better.

Bonnie was an aspiring rapper

They used a system of convict guards, one of whom raped Clyde. Clyde caved in his skull with a pipe and another convict who was already doing life took the blame. Clyde then cut off four of his own toes with an axe to get a medical release, not knowing his mother's letter writing campaign had already obtained a parole for him.

They just needed more programs, maybe some midnight basketball.

They were just protesting an unjust system. The system was stacked against them. They had no real choice. It was a mostly peaceful protest. They were just trying to steal a living since the system would not allow them to honorably earn one. The fact that a few people jumped in front of their warning shots is unfortunate. And then the system brutally executed them.

That is the argument you liberals use today. Why not apply the same logic to back then?

I’m sure you would be just as receptive if Tyrone claimed maltreatment while in Prison? Would you defend him committing crimes when released? Something tells me no

That’s exactly the argument being made. “The banks fricked everyone over so it’s ok that they murdered innocent bank employees and local law enforcement officers”
