You can't afford it.

I can remember thinking BMW was really cool back in the late 80’s & early 90’s. That was the last time.

Every shop owner will salivate at your arrival...

If you are stupid enough to buy a BMW, here are the four things you must do....
1) Get the most extended warranty that covers EVERYTHING.
2) Have a beater car as a standby for those times that your BMW will be in the shop – which will be frequent.
3) Sell the damn car before the warranty goes out because you don’t want to own a BMW without a warranty. The repair costs will literally bankrupt you.
4) Be prepared to lose a lot of f*cking money on resale because nobody wants to buy a BMW that’s out of warranty.
Other than that, it’s a beautiful car with great handling and they're fun to drive. Further, it’ll impress all your “keeping up with the Joneses“ friends.

Has anyone on this site ever asked for and taken the advice that was given. Yet MF always asking for advice from what car to buy to what's the best dating site. Navigating life really isn't that hard.

Do you have any revolving debt? Credit cards, etc. ?
Do you max out your 401K? Max out your annual IRA contribution?
If the answer is yes to debt or no to any of the savings / investments , then you have no business buying a luxury vehicle.

I don’t want any vehicle where it costs $3500 to change a windshield and $800 to change the oil.

A family man is looking to buy a BMW he can’t afford. Pathetic.
That’s what a little boy does, not a man

Yes...I got the extra warranty extending to the windshield because it has that heads up display, and apparently the windshield costs thousands to replace. No problems yet. Fun car. (23 530i)

I hate my wife’s. It does drive nicely, but JFC the issues. Have to take out 1600 screws and multiple components just to change the fricking battery that sits behind the steering column. Not sure how much I spent dealing with sensor issues.

Despite their reputation for contantly having issues, I never had a major problem with any of the ones I’ve owned. But I recognize that’s anecdotal evidence - just giving my experience.
With free maintenance for 3 years, warranty, etc. it shouldn’t be a big deal unless you plan to keep it for 8+ years. I’ve had four BMWs and never a single issue…
