Just received a pair of glasses after eye surgery and was able to be corrected to 20/30 according to the Dr. However my eye is no where near what I'd imagine 20/30 to be. I can't make out my phone screen, things aren't as "crisp", and distant objects are just plain blurry. Can anyone explain this or any idea how this is possible? Is 20/30 vision really that bad?

I definitely would not ask your doctor if I was you.

It would help to know what type of eye surgery you had.

In the same boat ..

Been told by the doctor that its normal and to buy reading glasses.

Cant read iPhone or medicine bottles. The alarming thing is that it all happened in the last or within a year.

i just left my doctor. All he could say was that according to the chart I was 20/30. Was seeing if anyone else has experienced this same thing.

Thanks for the reply though

20/30 simply means you see at 20 feet what a normal eye can see at 30 feet. The rest sounds like maybe your prescription is wrong on the glasses

How long ago? Could you still be healing?

How old are you. At about 40-43 you will see a change in your vision. Normal aging. Reading glasses.

I'm definitely still healing but once I got the ok from the Dr to be fitted I assumed the glasses would help. I credited still healing to the reason as to why 20/20 couldn't be achieved but I'm at a loss as to why 20/30 is real blurry.

However the poster who said it might be the wrong prescription lead me to think that maybe my eyes aren't able to see with 100% acuity yet.

My bad, I should have said something, I was just getting it out of the way for you from the OT.
Maybe try a second doctor's opinion?

You are probably experiencing aberrations due to an irregular corneal surface. It has been my experience that best visual acuity after a corneal procedure is achieved with contacts..specifically a rigid gas permeable lens or a hybrid.

Blurry vision is a common first sign of AIDS.

I just got my first pair of glasses a few weeks ago. My vision is fine at about 10 feet, but then it gets blurry. I probably should have gotten them a couple of years ago. Its amazing how much better I am able to see.
