I personally would not go to the funeral dressed up like a blue devil.

You need to wear a white shirt to a funeral.

Isn't terd in the Navy? I imagine he would wear his class A's fairly often.

What shade of blue?

Traditional light blue = yes
Darker royal blue = not a fan

OP could really mind frick the OT baws by wearing a navy tie and then pairing it with some dark brown dress shoes.

We call them dress blues... and there's no way I could still fit in those things.

Nobody will put you in jail, but white is the better, more respectful choice for a funeral.

Casually make note of the non-white shirts there today, and report back.

This younger generation thinks its acceptable to wear maroon/pink/yellow/etc shirts with bright arse ties and no jacket to funerals. It's disgusting.

That's just a product of shitty parenting. I went to a wedding recently where a 19yr old cousin of the bride showed up in a solid white cocktail dress. I found out later it was her sorority rush dress. I thought the bride and her family were going to actually crucify this chick in the parking lot. Made for quite the spectacle.

It was a fairly small funeral. like 15 guys in suits. Me, my uncle and at least on other dude had blue or blue striped shirts on. Asked my uncle who frequently wears suits about the blue and he said it wasn't a big deal. Asked the lady in the casket and she didn't respond.

anyway, thanks to all for the quick responses.
