I have a female Redbone hound,same thing.It’s called resource guarding.Dog training book recommended giving a treat,trade for the object you don’t want them to have.. That’s what I do.It makes me mad ,tempted to beat the hell out of her but Idon’t want to make her mean.

I wrestled our young Lab and I did it once after he nipped me on the arm. He watched me real closely when we tumbled around in the future. No more nipping either. That dog and I had a blast rolling around on the floor.
