I am pretty sure that Blackrock and Fidelity's Spot ETF Bitcoin fund is backed by real bitcoin. They are in the game.
Unsurprisingly, you completely missed the point.

The second I bought in 2017 it crashed for years and then I sold at a loss. Should’ve held 7 years later

That depends on where you are. In places where hyperinflation has destroyed the local currency, like what's about to happen to the Dollar, Bitcoin is being used as a shadow economy. Lots of bitcoin as currency in Africa, Central America, South America, etc. All the places where the socialists destroyed wealth with inflation. And it's official currency in more and more countries like El Salvador.
There's no killing it. People who think the government could do something to kill bitcoin are just ignorant of the reality of it. They can only do one thing. Tax when you offramp. And they know it. China has tried multiple times to kill it and here we are at ATH....
JFC.
Posts like this are reason enough to stay away from BTC, nevermind the completely speculative nature of a crypto coin with zero intrinsic value.

Why is that?

Then you should definitely stay away completely.
And if you're scared of things without any intrinsic value, you might want to get away from the US Dollar while you still can as well.

"hyperinflation", "dollar is about to crash", blah blah blah...
Not only is none of that true, but it's insane to think if those things did happen that fricking BTC is what would come in and save the day. The Chinese might have something to say about that.

I can buy things with dollars. I can't do shite with BTC but buy some Chinese designer drug or other such blackmarket nonsense.

Sounds good, thanks for sharing with everyone about the thing you definitely don't care about

It's amazing how fake news travels beyond the political sphere in your life.

I buy lots of stuff with crypto on a coinbase visa. Works everywhere and on everything. And then I get bitcoin kicked back to me. So you're wrong again.

Bruh. Btc is only used for money laundering and buying drugs.
The US dollar is free and clear of that!

Multiple threads about crypto with arguments about how valuable it should be..

I can't take credit but a freind I played online games with talked me into buying it in 08/09 when they released the first coins. I had no clue and was weary so I just bought 20. With fees and all it was like 30$ total.
This was before virtual wallet and you had to write down your wallet code. After a few years and a move I lost the wallet code. I got rid of the computer and hard drive when I updated to a new rig. Honestly I had forgot about the coin till years later when it got to the 20k mark.
Missed opportunity but I do wonder if the guy who mentioned it to me hit it big.

Sometimes I daydream about what if, but the reality is that had I bought in back then, there is next to zero fricking chance I would have held past about $100 per BTC. Would it have been nice to have made tens of thousands of dollars on it? Sure. But I’m flat out fooling myself if I think I would have held until it was worth life changing amounts of money
I was told by a co-worker in 2017, price was about $200, to buy and hold for 5 years and check the price then. I didn’t understand the point of it. At the time I didn’t think of it as a store of value, but as a currency, which it was terribly inefficient as and wayyyyy too volatile. I beat myself up on a semi regular basis over it. I think about how he’s living now, admittedly with jealousy, since he put about 15k into it that summer. But, he also lives in denmark so the government takes most of it away anyway. Take that!
