I’m not sure if you are trying to make a point with your OP or what but this sounds like it was a pretty significant tornado, no deaths confirmed yet but I suspect there will at least be one. Prayers for all involved, I’m still watching Spann’s coverage

Misleading title.

You posted a link to a video with lightning and what looks to be a possible transformer blow...

Won’t be surprised to see this end up a solid EF2 or more

I saw the SPC upgrade for Alabama but still seems like this caught everyone including most WX folks off guard

Yep. Woke me up here in Paulding. Friend sent me of them going off at the battery too. Called and woke the parents up in Marietta to make sure they knew too. Y’all stay safe.

I went outside to grab my wallet from my car and told my roommate this is tornado weather. Could just feel it in the air. Hour later sirens were going off. Now I’m up for the night and work in 4 hours

The situation in Fultondale is very bad. I have a cousin who lives right in the path of where this tornado hit. He and his family are okay, but their house is heavily damaged. There is at least one confirmed fatality in Fultondale.

The tornado hit about 10:45 CT last night. Fultondale is about 5 miles north of downtown Birmingham.

Man, hope it just stays at that one death, which is tragic enough. Looks like it hit in a fairly populated area and a lot of reports it kind of hit without warning and caught people unprepared.
