Probably outsourced the engineering to India

Believe me it's nowhere near that level of progress yet

I pass by the thing every day and if there is a quarter mile of road suspended I might be exagerrating

My understanding of it was that the cable was over tightened in the field prior to install, when they went to loosen the cable in the field it was loosened too fast which caused the collapse.

eta: The design was good, the application was bad.

That is exactly what my Engineer Barbie told Teddy Ruxpin at the mud pie social last weekend. Destro tried to contradict her, but (after all) who's the engineer here? Not Destro, that's for sure.

so they hire the same "all women" engineering team that proved themselves to be inept and incompetent with the other collapse?

that's the crazy thing about America today. facts, logic, and best person for the job doesn't matter anymore. it means NOTHING. it's all about promoting SJW nonsense even if it means death and destruction.

There were major hurdles to get it going, though. They had to buy out houses in the Northside hood. Then they had to clear them out. You know all this, so no need to go further.

I’ve just assumed that’s why it took a while to start taking shape.

The FIGG engineer of record’s failure to identify the significance of structural cracking observed in this node before the collapse, and failure to obtain an independent peer review of the remedial plan to address the cracking, further contributed to the collapse.

If it's cracking while you're building it, that might be a good sign someone fricked up the design.

I was out of town for work for a while and didn't keep up with a lot if it. I was surprised how little was accomplished when I got back based on their initial 2020 timeline... which seemed impossible from the start

Well, they had to arrange a bridge shower, decide on a color scheme, and pick dresses. You're looking for visible indications of progress, but that crap's really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the chick bridge-building game.

Yes, they are building the new taller bridge to allow for the new VLCC ships to enter the inner harbor to be loaded, the large pipelines coming in from the Permian Basin all dead end down there.

I know this may sound esoteric, but instead of building a billion dollar bridge couldn’t they built an offshore LOOP type facility and not need that high a bridge.

LOOP in the last few years did a change to where they are not only taking oil in, but now they can ship it out too.

Think it has to do with the Port of Corpus not being able to tax an offshore port. Imagine that.
