What's funny is that he is probably the most racially progressive promoter ever. He pushed JYD and Simmons to the moon.

He saw money in black athlete succeeding and made a lot of it through his pushes of JYD, Ladd, Butch Reed, and others.

It was less successful with Ron Simmons but that’s another issue entirely between how Simmons was booked and the shite show that was WCW at that time. A big part of it was that Vader was pretty much the only heel of any significance they had, as Flair and Sid were in WWF, meaning he had no real challengers.
