It's a valid criticism. Putting a means test on the subsidy is the same as financially encouraging people to get less valuable degrees.

What 4 year degree pays on average 125k straight out of college?

In addition to that baseline of student loan debt forgiveness for individuals who fall under a certain income level, administration officials have also recently discussed the possibility of additional forgiveness for specific subsets of the population, according to sources familiar with internal discussions in the administration.

10+ bans if this portion is honestly discussed.

New cars on the way. 10K forgiven means I can spend 10K I don't have on things I don't need on credit.

I’d rather Americans spend their disposable income on stimulating the economy/starting a family/purchasing a home then paying back some predatory loan forced on them at age 18.

I just paid the last 3k of mine. Took just under 10 yrs. Amazing that...I knew what I was getting into and calculated that if my degree got me 1200 a year more over the rest of my working life, it would be worth it. No sugar daddy needed

why should parents be tied to this cancellation?

the more successful you are the more you get screwed from your government? that makes no sense to me

I'm not sure when they started the Pell grant or American opportunity credit, but I bet tuition increased accordingly with those as well.
Cost of education is the biggest issue. The most fundamental level of education is elementary through highschool. The quality is shite now. College is halfway shitty too because they allow people to get worthless degrees. It definitely needs to be restricted. If the graduating students can't get jobs (lets say 75% threshold for job placement), then the schools should have to limit entries to that degree. That threshold shouldn't change whether it's based on a shitty degree or poor GPA. They don't care about putting out quality candidates for necessary jobs, they care about money. Every other loan out there has some minimum criteria to obtain it, why should student loans be different? What's the likelihood of payback within a certain time, what's the likelihood that the loan the education is paying for leads to a good paying job, etc?

Could you imagine if public schools had tuition like tax payers funded state universities? Not saying professor's incomes should drop to that of k-12 teachers, but they could stand to come down and k-12 could stand to come up, provided they also meet a decent minimum requirement for student education results.

Very, very few Americans make $125,000, no matter how bad the OT wants you to believe they all do.

Yeah that’s keeping the gas prices down, these people have not been paying their loans back in how many years? This guy is literal brain dead.

Lmao. Peanuts to the people really screwed by student loans.

Biden is in a no win situation here. He cancels 10k which isnt jack shite esp to his base,

or he keeps payments paused a longer while the banks and creditors are getting sick of waiting and breathing down his neck.

What is with this "straight out of college" stipulation? Will the loans only apply towards recent grads? If so, why?

There's no word on what the household income threshold will be for those with two incomes. $125k is very low for a a family with two adults with STEM degrees, imo.

They're not women's studies degrees. You kids realize not everyone is straight outta college and single, right?

What about those of us who actually started saving and putting away money in college plans when the kids were born so we didn’t have to take out loans to pay for college. The fit one will be done in May, no loan. Second one is just starting and we should be good for 4 years, though market really affected that. At worse, we may have to take out small amount for last year.
We are not rich by any stretch but smart with our money and have always been able to do what we want. Have a house, reliable cars, vacations, sports, etc…Why the hell should I pay for someone else’s kid to go to school . Do I get some of my hard earned money back?

Your opinion is retarded because you can look this shite up.

And just like every other tax law, married filed jointly is double what single is
