The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is figuring out what to do with a flatbed truck hauling a giant generator that's stopped at the side of Interstate 95 in Warwick because the DOT says it's too heavy for any bridges in the state. The truck is carrying a 560,000-pound generator from Quonset. On Tuesday morning, RIDOT says one of its own engineers saw the super load heading away from Quonset in North Kingstown. The curiosity factor has been causing traffic delays. It was loaded onto a heavy-duty trailer for delivery to Massachusetts, even though it should have never turned a wheel due to its extreme weight.

Lies. It's LSU's new "secret playbook" that Matt Canada ordered.

This playbook is way more complex than the old one that contained a total of 4 different plays.

I was just reading about this, apparently they didn't have a permit yet and decided to start hauling the generator anyways.

Over some of the smaller bridges that would have caused havoc.

Park that on the side of the road down here before a hurricane and I'll haul it off myself.

If a safe route can't be found, the generator may need to be disassembled along the shoulder of I-95.

That would suck.

With the fines for overweight figured by amount of access weight, this truck could have 200-300K in fines.

You couldn't afford the diesel to run it.

If the flatbed truck hadn't been stopped, it would have crossed almost 40 bridges, some of them structurally deficient.

Someone at Bay Crane is puckered up right now hoping they aren't going to jail.

RIDOT needs to trace that truck back to it's FOB and charge them for any asphalt they fricked up.

Closer to $474,000 if they charge like some do for $1 for every pound over limit. Even with an annual overweight permit it would still be $460,000

Always with the assumptions.

I probably have enough diesel on hand to run it for 10 to 15 minutes as is.

What will 975 gallons buy me?

They just moved a giant transformer up in NW Arkansas. Flatbed, three semi tractors ( one pulling and two pushing) and extra trailer for added braking. Total weight of the group was over one million pounds and over 300 ft long, moved at 10-15 mph. Had to stop and add axles to cross some of the bridges. Did get permits tho although had to modify when they added the last trailer.
