Similar to agdoctor..my wife & I just traded in a 2007 Honda Civic with just under 100k miles. Had to change the starter once. No other major problems with the car. The insurance was also cheaper because the civic had an excellent safety rating. Value on the trade in was close to the blue book value.

The 2016 Civic has a slick looking redesign. It now has a turbo charged engine as an option.

I'm still driving my '07 Si. The engine has been a rock, but I've had other little stuff cause issues. There was a paint thickness recall issue that lead to a Honda dealer shipping my car to a fligh by night paint booth for two months.

My family has owned multiple Honda models over the past 25 years. None have had major mechanical issues, and they weren't all necessarily maintained meticulously.

They have a bit more zoom zoom especially the 185 hp grand touring models and handle great. We have a 2010 i sport hatchback with the 2.5 engine and its been a great car. Its fun little car to drive too. You may also want to consider the Nissan Sentra. It has a bigger cabin than its rivals and great fuel economy but is has a small 130hp engine so its a bit slower.

Me either, and I've never been crazy about the looks of my '07. That being said it looks far better than the past few updates and refreshes.

I'm excited about the direction Honda is going with both the Accord and Civic. They are finally listening to everyone saying how tired they are of Honda being conservative or even downright boring with their styling.
