Ok I didn't see it at first but those trees are absolutely beautiful when they are in bloom and at it will have both yellow flowers and pink pods at the same time so it looks like its covered in both yellow and pink flowers together.

I got lucky at my house. They planted an oak (don't know what kind) instead of the bradford pear. Everyone else around me has the bradfords.
it probably either died or blew over already

i advise highly against a bradford pear. it'll eventually become a missile during a wind storm. they grow fast and break fast.

I like River Birch and Weeping Willow, both will make a mess though. Japanese Maple is also a good choice.
If you're just looking for color Crepe Myrtles are hard to beat, but may not be big enough.

For my money, I think the Drake elm is an unbelievable tree

I know that i'm the minority but I think that two big saga palms on each side of the front door looks neat.

they have some white crepe myrtles that get huge.

I had 5 mature crepe myrtles that I removed from my yard. They would leaf out and bloom early in the growing season and every year would have powdery mildew on them by mid-summer. The leaves and blooms would start falling off and making a mess. I sprayed those things several times each year but it didn't seem to help.

Def one of my favorites. Doesn't root out too much, stable, has some nice color and love the shape of it. perfect for courtyards and around the house for shade.

I still have yet to figure out what value these plants have. They don't flower. They look like shite IMO, and they are a pain in the dick to maintain when they have to be trimmed.
White Crapes = Natchez; they can get very large, and have beautiful color, and contrast with the exposed bark and dark green leaves

I've been saying river birch for 2 pages without the slightest acknowledgment.
I had two of those in my front yard. Ugliest trees I've ever seen. Leaves didn't appear until June and they were gone by October. The rest of the time it just looked dead.

They need to be used in the right setting. They don't have great form, but i love the color and texture they bring. No idea what's wrong with yours. My parent's have one that is green 60% of the year, yellow for 20%, and leafless in the winter for the other 20%.

I absolutely hate sago palms but I don't think you're in the minority because I see so many around BR

Plant some satsumas if you like eating them.

they are put in by lazy people. It's a "space filler" as I call it. A boring arse ornamental focal.

I like my sago palms.

I like them but I like to stick to one theme. Those scream tropical and I like the japanese look. Even though I have no japanese anything.

I like the japanese magnolia and the drake elm for sure. Should I put the drake elm in the back yard and the magnolia in the front since it's a pretty flowering tree?
