Best summer job stories

What’s a cool summer job that you had back in high school?
When I was a sophomore, my mom said she would buy me a car if I paid for my own insurance, I ended up seeing an ad for tard wranglers.
Basically it was a summer camp for special needs children. They did lots of activities like kayaking, basketball, archery, etc. Because the place wasn’t fenced in, and surrounded by thick woods, occasionally one of the kids would wander off. My job was to wrangle em in either bring them back or hold them down until someone brought a buggy.
It took me a while to get good with a lasso, but by the end of the summer I was wranglin tards left and right. It got to the point where I just had to look at them (people with strict dads know the look) and they would turn around and come back to camp.
Anyone else learn a lot about themselves from a summer job? Or any funny stories?

‘Twas the summer of 2004, and that seasonably mild Ithaca July air was pleasant as a poached egg yolk-soaked slice of avocado toast. Father had secured me a position as a counselor at “Future Ivy League Leaders of New York” summer camp. Whilst some of my fellow counselors were absolute frogbotherers, i enjoyed my role and was able to network with many bright minds, several of which now work for my various companies. My one regret is not telling that cantankerous fop director from Princeton to jump in a lake.

I worked on a farm one summer to help a lonely widowed woman hell bent to make it on her own. Hands were leathery though.

I bet there’s never been another summer where you ever learned that much.

I worked as a caddy one summer at a snooty country club. That summer was wild. I had everything from a pregnancy scare to playing in an illegal golf tournament.

JFC dude.
"I work with retards."
"Isn't that a little politically incorrect?"
"Yeah, maybe, but hell, no one's gonna tell me who I can and can't work with."

I banged your mom all summer while you were getting beat up by special needs kids.

My favorite comes from the employer side. I had two photo guides just arrive from PA for the summer. They were familiarizing themselves with the area they would be working and ran into a rather inquisitive bear.
The two girls sprayed the shite out of each other with bear spray not thinking about the wind. Got a call from one crying and took them to the hospital. The bear was unfazed, but didn't hurt them.

I worked at a snowball stand when I was 14 and 15. I made 3.50 an hour and was paid in cash at the end of the day. I decorated a soup can for a tip cup and wrote “help me save for med school” on it.
I made a ton in tips and shat green all summer from all those spearmints with chocolate syrup and condensed milk.
Best job ever.

I went to work for her that summer
A teenage kid so far from home
She was a lonely widow woman
Hell bent to make it on her own
We were a thousand miles from nowhere
Wheat fields as far as I could see
Both needing something from each other
Not knowing yet what that might be
'Til she came to me one evening
Hot cup of coffee and a smile
In a dress that I was certain
She hadn't worn in quite a while
There was a difference in her laughter
There was a softness in her eyes
And on the air there was a hunger
Even a boy could recognize
She had a need to feel the thunder
To chase the lightning from the sky
To watch a storm with all its wonder
Raging in her lover's eyes
She had to ride the heat of passion
Like a comet burning bright
Rushing headlong in the wind
Out where only dreams have been
Burning both ends of the night
A teenage kid so far from home
She was a lonely widow woman
Hell bent to make it on her own
We were a thousand miles from nowhere
Wheat fields as far as I could see
Both needing something from each other
Not knowing yet what that might be
