The 2 best public schools in the state are in nola, Ben Franklin and Lusher. Just depends on the kid and what his/her interest are

Move to the burbs and take advantage of that world class East Jefferson High School education.

Ben Franklin is a great school academically, but it isn't for every personality.....
Mandeville high is your only answer here for a true traditional public school in the "Nola area"

Lusher? If that's true, surprising to me.
Also, West Feliciana is highly regarded

Lake Charles is barbe
Lafayette is Lafayette high
Baton Rouge is Baton Rouge High Magnet
New Orleans is Ben Franklin or Lusher
Northshore is Mandeville High
That's my I-10 analysis.

It's not true. It's a decent school, but not really on par with the other big magnets throughout the state. Guy has an awful case of NO tunnel vision, to the point he's basically just a caricature now.
Ben Franklin is arguably the best magnet in the state, though.

Find a magnet or charter school. I hear those are decent

The best track for school in Baton Rouge is Westdale Heights Academic Magnet ( a few other good choices at this level) then Sherwood Middle Magnet and then Baton Rouge High School . It's excellent academically-and produces a lot of kids with crazy ACT scores and scholarships. All three of mine went this route and It's been tremendous.
Private school you have plenty of options , two of which are really academically solid imho ( Catholic and Episcopal) . And many others which are solid. If you want a " neighborhood " public school you could move north of the city to Zachary or maybe to Ascension or Livingston where schools are pretty normal . The neighborhood schools in Baton Rouge are with a couple of exceptions, hot garbage.

Get used to $10k/year per kid for private school.

This thread is so depressing

What's funny? Lusher is New Orleans' second tier magnet. To try to pretend it is better than every other first tier magnet throughout the state is just silly. But it seems clear you have no problem looking silly.

I'm laughing because you're right and I just corrected myself in the post right above yours.
