I still don't understand how it passed and was immediately revoked.
They waited until the last minute while in session to work out the details and they couldn't agree on anything. There were a few people against it.. Like Louisiana Family Forum.
Louisiana politics at its finest. Put it up for vote, most of the parishes voted for it.. And it still gets shut down.

I think some politician tried to slide something in last minute to benefit the video poker industry.

I'm just glad that we can play Fan Duel this year since we passed it easily in a vote.

Look. They're saving our souls. You should be grateful, you fricking heathen.

I'm actually surprised it's taking this long to figure out whose pockets are gonna get lined from legalizing sports betting.
As corrupt as this state's government is, it's mind boggling they haven't legalized it yet.

But we can buy lottery tixs to the Louisiana Lottery and Powerball and also buy scratch offs but no sports betting? Does that make any fukin sense?

Exactly. We are either a gambling state or we are not a gambling state. The bible thumping fricktards are trying to "save" people from dropping $20 on a game, but no issues with the same people putting entire paychecks weekly into the slots?

Yes they were lobbying against it as well. Not sure why. This was just to make fantasy games legal. Being able to play on DraftKings, Fanduel, etc.
I don't know how that would cut into view poker profits.. I know a lot of people who was looking forward to being about to play on Draftkings, etc who don't even touch a poker machine including myself.
Anytime I go somewhere with poker machines, the people playing don't really seem like the type who are hardcore football fans who are playing something where they have to manage a budget to make a team, etc.
If it was legalized I would play, but more important I don't really like the idea that government has say so over this. If I want to participate in in DraftKings, etc that should be my decision.
And just as bad, the fact that I live in a parish where it was passed. Not making it legal is a slap in the face to the voters. While I know this isn't really an important issue, they waste a lot more time debating over issues that are less important..

That was part of the problem, trying to line too many pockets to the point where the casinos had to question if legalization would have even been worth it. Louisiana at its finest

Legislature has a big problem with sports gambling and casinos. How can they get some of the sports gambling money in their pocket. My suggestion is booking parlors like in England. Then they can give out new licenses and get a kickback from them
