Look, you're gonna need more than one suit for your "professional career" and it ain't black.

Buy a Penny's tux. Wear it to the balls.
You will look ridiculous in a black suit.

John Pickens is the answer. I too wanted a nice black "peak" lapel suit for my wedding & special events. I went with a nice Zegna. They took my measurements & the suit arrived a few weeks later. It was expensive but fits me like a glove. Highly recommend going to John.

It's no contest - Pickens. Line Ave two blocks north of Superior Grill. He has off the rack and made to measure in a number of brands ranging from very high end to affordable. Head and shoulders above anything else in this town and a similar setup to Geo. Bass in NOLA. He knows more about fitting clothes than any retailer in the town and won't let you make a bad choice. He does business the right way.

But other posters are absolutely correct - don't buy a black suit. Never wear a black suit when you should wear a Tux. Never. Id you own one suit, it should be Navy, or Charcoal Gray.

Call Stan at Stan Oppenheimer
Stanton & Company at 1 (318) 218-6812. He will meet you were you are. He is an older gentleman that's retired and doesn't need the money. Tell him DelRio sent you. He has all levels of affordability and is super nice.

I didn't realize the disdain for black suits. Lol and yes I know I will need more than one, I was just trying to be practical for my current income. Thanks for the advice.

We'd rather tell you here than have you go there and feel out of place.

Haha yeah I hear you. I've been before and rented a tux and it's just a colossal waste of money, so I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone lol

For a Mardi Gras ball, better off renting a tux from Squires. You will blend in. $85 to $100 or so. Best suit in the world will be out of place there.

I bought a used tux from Squires years ago for about $80 and paired with a quality tux shirt. Got years of that until too fat for it. Now I just rent.

For a suit for other purposes, Popes and John Pickens as said above. Dean at Line Avenue Popes has helped me not be too much of a redneck.
