Triflexis. It's expensive but worth every penny. You won't be covering your house in pesticide and your dog will kill the fleas for you

Bombs suck, get a can of flea spray and use the whole fricking can. It has to say flea spray, not a general spray that kills all insects, just flea. Wash everything, get dog on some kind of flea treatment. I started using triflexis a couple of year ago, and have yet to see a single flea. Even when I give em a bath, not a SINGLE FLEA. Once a month with food, and that's it. Kinda of pricey, but well worth it. Have two labs, fixing to get another, and there's nothing better. Its an all in one treatment. Fleas, ticks, and all the worms a dog can get, hook, round, heart etc. All in one tablet FTW.

- Don't use a monthly flea treatment. The fleas build up a resistance over time. Use Frontline or Advantage (whichever one you haven't used recently) on the dog. Don't use another flea treatment unless they show up again, at which point you switch to the other brand. Alternate brands each time you see fleas. I almost never need to use them, but by alternative Advantage and Frontline and using them only when needed, I've been able to mostly avoid the problem and get rid of it quickly when it shows up.

Terrible advice in here. Fleas aren't building resistance to the stuff- just seems like that bc of poor compliance.

You come in with those adulticidal flea preventatives just once and you'll be seeing them come right back. Flea life cycle lasts weeks to months. Gotta stay on the preventative every month. Don't switch preventatives when you see the next generation hatch out after a month or three. You can help the process by using one of the topicals plus one of the oral ones too.

If you have Carpet put Mothballs in the Vacuum Cleaner Bag. I think I used like 10 or so. Vacuum your Carpet often and two things happen. When the Fleas get sucked into your Vacuum Cleaner Bag they die and the Vapors from the Vacuum Cleaner gets into the Carpet and kills the Fleas. Works great and when you change the Vacuum Cleaner Bag put in new Mothballs. My X at one time had 6 cats! There is a good spray to spray the cats but do remember the name. Got it at the Vet and get them down and spray them really well. I never had dogs in the house only cats.

for a pet?

Revolution..

you just apply it once to the back of their neck after you part their hair.. that's it. it kills all fleas on them and the larvae, and it kills ear mites, and any internal parasites in them.

This last for one month protection and they can be bathed after about a few hours or so and it won't affect it.

You do have to have a prescription for it, so I just order mine from Petshed online.. Comes from Australia very quickly considering, and it's the real brand and legit.

diatomaceous earth (food grade, not pool grade) is great for getting rid of fleas, ants, bugs, etc as well and is safe for animals/humans to eat.

I've had to do this a few times myself.

1. Buy Revolution drops. They are the best. They don't last an entire month though.

2. Adams is the best pesticide. Use the shite out of the foggers and spray. You'll probably need multiple applications.

3. In high activity areas (bedrooms), wash your sheets once a week. At night, leave bowls of water out in the floor with a small light above it. You'll kill twenty fleas a night by drowning.

4. Pull up all your carpet. Nothing else we did had as big an impact. We pulled up the upstairs carpet and redid the hardwoods underneath.

Revolution, Adams, bowls of water, no carpet.

Bomb the shite out of your house.

This.

I give my dog NexGard chewables (once a month) and she never gets the first flea or tick. She stayed for a week at my sister's place while the Mrs and I were on vacation, my sister's dogs are outside dogs and have fleas (she refuses to believe her homeopathic bullshite doesn't work). My dog didn't have a single flea on her even after a week of being around those dogs.

Giving them something to stop the fleas is the first part. After the chewable, bathe them (the fleas on them will leave or die once the meds take effect, but there's no reason to not go ahead and kill them now).

Once this is done comes the hard part, getting them the frick out of your house and yard. The easiest and most effective method I've found is to bomb the shite out of your house and spray the hell out of your yard (especially spots where your dog likes to stay).

You'll notice an almost immediate difference with your dog (via their not scratching or nibbling so much) and a difference in your house and yard within a day or so.

Let an exterminator handle it. Seriously. Flea bombs from the hardware store don't work. After the exterminator does his thing, vacuum daily for a couple of weeks and wash all bedding. Exterminator is worth it if you have a flea infestation.

Yep. Ours started back late spring. Our dogs had them. Bathed and treated them. But they were in the basement by then. Couldn't seem to get rid of them. I tried multiple flea bombs. I tried the DE. All that did was slightly slow them down and cover everything in the basement with a fine powder when I used the shop vac to clean it up. Used a whole large bottle of flea spray. It looked like I had mopped down there. Finally called the exterminator that was already spraying the yard and told them what was going on. Two treatments and they're gone. First one got most of them but 10 days later there were still some down there. It has been about 4 days since the 2nd treatment and I haven't had any jump on me since then.

Use a monthly preventative, spray yard with triflexis every time the seasons change, buy a flea collar cut it into pieces, put pieces into vacuum bag or canister, vacuum every other day, empty bag or canister outside every time, wash every fabric you can (sheets, rugs, blankets, etc.), use flea carpet spray or powder.

The key is to do all of this at one time, so they don't go from one pet or room to another. It's gonna take about a month of vigilance to make sure those lil suckers are gone.

Put bowls of water with liquid soap in them on the floors of problem areas. Pour down toilet when the bowls are full of fleas and repeat.
