naturally we have no cabelas store for hundreds of miles. I'm sure one of the local gun stores will have it at a jacked up price.

Much better info on the OB. At least half of the replies here already are just trolls.

Just saying if he didnt have an alarm system or even a dog, the gun would be kind of pointless

she doesn't need to aim very well since the shot spreads. She just needs to point into the direction of the mother fricker who decides to break in and pull the trigger. I guarantee they will run the other way.

Do not follow this direction! Yes you have to aim a shotgun if you are using it for home defense.

You can buy that at almost any big box sporting goods store. Even most Walmarts. Definitely at Academy.

If you have a SO that's not comfortable with using a gun, get a youth model shot gun.

This cannot be overstated. No point in having something that your SO cannot handle. I started w/ a Glock 9mm for my wife bc she's not comfortable w a shotgun just yet; then I bought my shotgun and moved the 9mm to her side of the room.

What would the OT gun guru's recommend?

I would recommend you go shoot different handguns and get the one with which you are most comfortable and proficient. Asking random people what best works for you is foolish. This isn't a one size fits all or what-TV-is-best type subject.

I've got a Beretta .40 and a pistol caliber carbine.

You really can't argue with a shotgun but I'd want something relatively short to be able to navigate a door frame comfortability.

A tactical shotgun with buckshot. Not many people practice enough with a handgun to be accurate enough during a home invasion, especially when waking up from a deep sleep.
