Zachary getting worse by the day, school as well as the town
I agree about the schools. We took our 5th grader out of Copper Mill due to some racial incidents and put him back in a Catholic school.

Yep. Baker citizens moving north like locusts. Give it 5 more years and see what's up

AP if you want a chemical plant up your nose.
Zachary if you can stand your neighbors in Baker.
Central which the school is about 50/50
LP if you don't mind an occassional rebel flag on the back of a pick up pass by.

Can you just throw money at u-high/lab school through donations to give yourself a better shot? Like from the time your kid is born (or when you start planning to have a kid), just donate like $5k a year. It would suck, but I'd rather pay $5k a year for 5 or 6 years then pay double that or more for 13 years.

I havent spent much time in zachary in the last 10-15 years, but it seems like this would be inevitable. Same shite happened to Baker in the 80's with their neighbor (scotlandville)

Is it really that bad in Zachary now?

Been in Zachary since 2003 and have 3 kids in the school system and pretty happy with it. I work off of Corporate and its an easy commute. Takes me 30 minutes to get to work in the morning.

Most of the bad shite you hear is from long time Zachary residents that do not want to see the community grow. Are there issues sure but what community doesn't have them. I have never had an issue I couldn't deal with quickly.

We moved to Zachary around the same time for the sole purpose of being able to send four kids to public instead of private. Two are now in private and the other two will never go to the high school here. My fault should have been smart enough to figure out that when the city is close to NBR,Clinton,Jackson, and baker things were gonna go down hill.

You still have to pay tuition at Univ Lab. It is basically a private school with tuition costs.

But the tuition is very low compared to other private schools in BR. It's a good bit less than what I currently pay for daycare and it's a very good school. I know that's not really what the OP asked, but I was wondering if that was an option there. If I moved back to BR, that's what I'd hope to be able to do.

As much a I dislike baka city, this phrase has been said for decades and not much has changed school-wise.

The city-council should have set restrictions and had a better plan for the growth that occurred after becoming independent.

Diversion Canal in St. Amant sure is a great place to raise a family if you're an avid boater and work in one of the relatively nearby plants.

This is the best quality of life, IMO

If my line of work wasn't so far I'd move to central today. I've been visiting family there since I was a kid and the place seems perfect for raising a family. My wife also has family there and between our two families that live there I can honestly say that they are all successful, great people.

Looks to be about the same as catholic grade school for the lab school. I am sure the High School is cheaper though.

I've been house/property browsing in Central and Prairieville
Just my opinion but I feel these 2 have the best public schools, neighborhoods, and environment to raise a family... also very easy access to BR
