If you go there be sure to find out why the fricking town is spelled "Natchitoches" but pronounced "Nackadish"

Honestly a degree is a degree and it comes down to your hustle anyway. I graduated from NSU and it's never done anything but help no matter what people say about the school. You make your own breaks, the piece of paper just helps.
This a great piece of advice, and very well put.. for any young people reading this, i would re-read the advice above and take it to heart.
I graduated from Northwestern St with, dont laugh-- a major in 'Speech' and a minor in 'English'.. as my cousin said at the time-- "you cant get a job, but you can speak English like a MOFO!"... ha. In any case, even with that easy courseload, i barely graduated from there.. i just wasnt a great student.. in the years since, I've had ups and downs but now i do really well in Medical Sales-- thanks to nothing but hustle, a modicum of intelligence (not reflected in grades) and a good attitude... but that piece of paper definitely helped open some doors as well... All that said, i wasnt crazy about Natchitoches or my time there; i spent my first two yrs at LSU and NSU was just a major letdown after that, in terms of student life, football , people, just everything.. but I'm grateful that i graduated, and i try not to have regrets in life.

I just am wondering what is Northwestern State known for?
I always think of NSU for its programs in education and nursing, There are a shitload of teachers and nurses in north Louisiana who graduated from NSU.
Those may not be what you are interested in, but that is what they are known for.

In all honesty their computer science department was one of the best around. Not sure if that's still the case or not.

Dr. Jack Russell is the man!
One of my best friend's father-in-law. I've had the opportunity to hang out with him a few times, awesome guy! And knows his shite about some Texas high school football too.

Definitely when it comes to making conversation over a few beers at a graduation party. It's always nice to hear what's going on next door when the Fall rolls around and recruiting starts heating up
