I’m thinking of joining the monthly car wash plan at Tommy’s.
They have 4 plans
Monthly cost-
19.99 basic
29.99 wheel clean
35.99 add rainbow coat
39.99 add red hot wax, tire gloss
Which one is the most cost effective?

Meh...do it yourself. Saves money and it will look better.

You gonna rub off your clear coat son.

I used to do it myself but it’s gotten difficult and the time is an issue.

Why?
Wouldn’t the soft cloth be the same as doing it by hand?

What color is your car?
Anything but white or silver/grey and that's going to screw it up.

I've never found any of those plans to be worth a shite, and commercial car washes use recycled dirty-arse water

As far as those type of contact washes Tommy’s is about as good as it gets. The “brushes” are foam tipped and they clean them and change them out regularly. They have a serious filtration system. They don’t have a brush station at the beginning because they don’t want you scratching your car. I met the owner and he walked me through the whole process when they first opened in Covington. He’s a detailer who got some backing and wanted the best wash that was easy on paint and still got the car clean.

Excellent info.
Most of 'em really skimp on water filtration.

If you can't prescrub, the car wash is going to miss spots.

So which of the plans should I get?

I dry with my own microfiber when I get out. So that generally takes care of any missed spots.
If I have a lot of bugs I go through twice. Even before I had a membership I’d just tell them I have bugs real bad and will probably want to go through twice. They will let you do that.

I have the top one but think I’d be fine with any of them really if you go through every few days.

I held off on getting a membership because 190 was a bit far but got one when they opened on 21. Been happy so far. Haven’t noticed much swirling but I don’t keep my trucks but 2-3 years. My fun cars I still hand wash at home.
He told me they have uber drivers that have been through 60-70 times a month. Talk about getting your money’s worth lol.
