About to start construction on a new home and we would like to get some ideas on flooring and kitchen cabinets. What are some stores with the best selection? TIA

just finished ours 2 weeks ago...

i'm sure your builder has a preferred flooring place, as well as appliance store... if you see something online you like, you need to talk to the builder ahead of time to see if they will allow you to supply your own items...

many builders don't want you to supply your own stuff because if you do, they can't add their upcharge as a supplier... plus, with shipping and shite, it could cause delays in the building process...

fwiw, we used Coburn's for appliances, and they had great prices.... we came in about $700 under our allowance... and ProSource for flooring/tile/etc....

You mean the builder can't bullshite the owner about the bullshite delays in shipping and delivery because the owner knows it was shipped and delivered.

yeah, we told the dude from jump that we were supplying certain items we already had in mind, but along the way, we ordered more and were trying to put even more internet finds in the house....

keep in mind, our orders were delivered WAAAAYYYY in advance, to not delay anything, but along the way, he decided he didn't want us to order anything else off the internet.... i found out, after that, the real reason builders don't allow, a lot of them anyway, customers to supply their own items for the house....

btw, right off the bat, the tub we got off the internet saved us over
$2000 vs. the price for a similar tub the plumbing supplier would have been able to supply.... got a $300 shower panel from amazon that takes the place of the $1700 shower set up that they would have supplied....

yeah, it ended pretty badly.... i'll never give the actual builder credit for building my house... he's an a-hole, but builds a nice house... very nice... but if i could punch him in the dick, i would

I bought all my appliances from Bellelos in Port Allen they were cheaper than anywhere else I looked and had great service. As far as flooring I went with lumber liquidators and they threw the formaldehyde in for free
