Good. Because linemen who have come to help are having their trucks beaten with pipe looking objects. (Crew was safe inside)
Also there’s a lineman in a hospital because he got jumped .. who knows if it’s because of the pelts electricity status.
This pisses me off.

That’s effed up. We went out of our way to thank them and show appreciation.
People are pissed off, and rightfully so.
Tony Buzbee has filed a class action suit against Centerpoint on behalf of many Houston restaurants for negligence. It ain’t over yet…

Can’t imagine doing that. Some ignorant mother frickers out there. Linemen are out there grinding. They have been nothing but nice in my interactions with them.
In other news, Shannon Ryan is underrated

Totally agreed.
After Laura we were at least 7 days without .. had a generator so we were good. It was during Covid — they couldn’t/wouldn’t take out snacks and water. I was seriously devastated — it was the least that we could do to say thank you.
I’m well aware that they got paid well but it still made us happy to say thank you in our own way.

We went on for a minute then a boom and back off. Everything started acting weird before the generator fired back up so I bet we have a damaged leg. I hope they’re going to get it fixed tonight so I can give this generator a break.
ETA. They’re done for the day. Coming back tomorrow hopefully to fix a fuse. Another night of stress listening to lighting (my generators name) run.

Been home 45 mins. Mine has come on and off about 5 times.
Currently on for now but Centerpoint just sent me a message saying this. A friend in different area got the message yesterday (sunday) saying Friday as well and got it back earlier today.
It’s a crapshoot with their messaging and forecasting.
Power just blinked again. No telling what happens next.
FROM: CenterPoint Energy
Crews continue to focus on restoring power. We understand your frustration and we apologize for the lack of specific restoration times. Your area has been identified as one with more localized, isolated outages. Based on the status of active restoration work, we estimate your power to be restored by the end of the day, Friday, July 19. Please know, however, that restorations will be happening daily and you may be restored earlier. We will communicate any updates as that information becomes available. Thank you for your continued patience as we complete repairs and work to restore power. Text STOP to unsubscribe

Got that as an email too, but mine came on yesterday morning. Had 2 trucks on the street today, had 2 neighbors with Generacs that were still out as of last night.

Got the same. My wife is melting about it right now. I have to leave town tomorrow and we’re supposed to go to Toledo bend Saturday. I’m ready to gtfo of this town for a few.
On a positive note, I think she’s come around to my idea of dumping our rental in Cottage Grove and trading it for a mountain place so we can leave town for most of the summer and hurricanes if needed. But that in practicality probably won’t work because we could have bailed to the ranch but she didn’t want to leave. At least I’ll end up with a mountain house out of it rather than a rental I end up working on every year and dislike.

Got some serious traction in the north part of Oak Forest. Two power lines that run down the neighborhood got reconnected. Still no power and crews not in sight.
Serious question; do these guys not work during the night? Is this a 24/7 operation or days only?

Still out in my area of Kingwood off Northpark. Had trucks all around my area though.

Daylight only. They’re usually limited by hours of service regulations as well. They don’t let them run 20 hr days like they used to. Thank OSHA, DOT and plaintiffs attorneys.

In a plant, we would work 24-7 on major maintenance and rotate shifts. Work 12 and then swap out. Why is this not feasible?

16 hours is usually the cap. However, in 2002 the truck I was on (tree crew) worked with the local Electric Co-Op we we’re contracted with for 36 hours straight. That was a long time ago and mainly rural Washington and St.Tammany Parish’s, and most of that was getting a limb off the line
and putting in another fuse for a single phase line.

They don’t staff up to run dual opposing crews and the equipment ends up being the limiting factor to 24/hr ops. They should, but they just don’t. It’s easier to just bring in more crews already geared up as long as you have a spread out area where they’re not all on top of each other. Also, I’m not sure any lineman I’ve ever met would let someone else touch their truck or tools. They take that shite personally.
