Pretty crazy that the blue Loyola street sign looks to have swung 90 degrees around on its pole.

Not sure I’ve seen that before.

How much did this building collapsing increase the property value?

Pretty wild. Maybe by design? Like a breakaway thing?

Must be. I'm guessing the cantilevered arm can rotate for proper alignment (and move out of the way for an oversized load)?

Maybe something allows it to breakaway like that and freely rotate rather than fall onto the street.

I've always wondered the history of that old arse,

That whole stretch is pretty historic when it comes to jazz history. Lots of old clubs thar have been torn down or lost.

I'm sure it'll be 1 of 2 things:

- Cookie cutter mixed use development with absolutely no soul or character and will be run down in 10 years

- Parking garage that feels unsafe at night

quote: I've peed many a time on the side of that there building after Saints games I parked in that parking lot for a Mardi Gras that I went down there for about 8 hours but ended up staying 2 days. My parking fee was like $150 and I had to scrounge up money to pay it as most of us had blown every dollar we had on partying. One of the best Mardi Gras’ I ever had. We’d piss on that building every time was had to go back to the car.

No wonder it finally fell. Years of corrosion from piss finally did it in like the condo collapse.
