5 tips:
1. Sleep no more than 7 hours per night
2. When the alarm goes off, get out of bed immediately
3. Never watch TV or just "goof off" on the internet. Down time should be spent with friends, family, chores, prepwork, or building skills through hobbies.
4. Live close to where you work.
5. Lay out all of your clothes and have any meals for the next day planned out and laid out the night before. If you're bringing your lunch to work, make sure it's already in the to-go container and measured out. As for dinner, if you're cooking, have all of your ingredients already chopped, measured, and organized so when you get home it takes no time to start.

Doing these things should free up at least 10 hours or more per week, that's an extra 520 hours/year or nearly 22 additional days.

Plan out your errands to get them done in one trip

Get some personal things done on work time if you can manage

Cook a lot of food at one time to last several days. This saves time from cooking/eating out.

Use tigerdroppings on the toilet

Limit gym time to under an hour-you will get just as/almost as much accomplished, because you will be faster.

Take care of a needed phone call while you are driving.

not sure how this makes things more efficient. At some point you are taking the time to do these things anyway

I've actually been wanting to make a thread on this. Does efficiency actually make your life better?

We work so much more efficiently now with computer programs, file storage, and emails, but everyone is still at the office 40 hours a week.

That's what I'm saying.

If we're so efficient, why can't we have Thursday and Friday off for deadlifts and golf?

Take time for yourself everyday (meditate, read, take walks, etc.). Your brain is going to check out and do this involuntarily anyway if you don't do so voluntarily, which could prove disastrous.

When you feel overwhelmed and unable to focus on all of the things that you have to do, step back and pick the two or three easy things on your to-do list. Take care of those. The feeling of accomplishment will then spur you on to other items.

Man, that's actually really solid advice.

The problem is that in the morning, most people are less poductive than at night. They're barely able to drag themselves out of bed let alone do prep work. This serves as a mental block allowing one to procrastinate or just "put it off". Then, it never actually gets done.

By prepping it the night before, you're doing the work at the time when it is most efficient to do so and maximizes your time to do certain chores that if the perception is they will take too long, may be put off or not performed entirely.

Always buy the same brand and style socks so you never have to match them up out of the dryer again.

Hmm. Some people work much more efficiently when they procrastinate-if you wait til the last minute l, you have to get it done. But I see what your saying about possibly just not doing it if it's something you don't need to do.

Exactly. There's a huge difference between when I get home from work between: "I'll start dinner right now because all I have to do is throw the ingredients in the pan and go because in 20 minutes I'll be able to eat and have leftovers." Vs "I have to spend 20 minutes chopping shite and deal with all of the dirty dishes already in the sink to maybe eat and hour from now? F&%k it, I'll order a pizza, netflix, and chill."

I'd say charisma and the inability to feel shame has worked for me. I'm very inefficient, but it's honed my problem solving skills

Efficiency isn't nearly as important as it used to be.

I'll never understand this. Why not just wait until you need to poop, to go? Why the hanging out and waiting for it to happen?
