Update: divorce before (Bay St Louis "Momma said to hand her the gun, so I did")

The eight year old girl handed her mom the gun. Shots were fired. the little girl in her red flannel night gown was splattered with blood.
A lot of new information about the three deaths.
After the shooting, the little girl told another person at Motel 6 that she had handed her mom the gun, where's your Father, hes in Mississippi with my (?)brothers,
The mother and daughter had checked into the motel at 2:30am, unloaded their stuff, and then the Mother went to the desk and said she was leaving because she was being followed.
Earlier, the previous day people who knew her had called 911 for a welfare check on her. And the police let her keep her gun then.
This isn't a whole story, but a lot of internet suggested possibilities don't fit what has been reported in the British Daily Mail linked above.

What are the internet theories.
Regardless, that description of the scene and the dying officer was absolutely awful to read.

That's not a theory. That was literally posted on day one by news outlets.

Suicide by cop. Sad the girl listened and lucky she was not injured.

Yep. That part really caught my ear. The initial report stated that she drew the gun when one of the cops radioed/called for DCFS.
I'm no cop policy guru or nothin' but cops should be prepared for a volatile response when someone realizes their child(ren) will be taken by DCFS. You'd think they would have gotten her out of the car and safely searched before letting her know DCFS was coming take the child.

People on the Coast are saying she had substance abuse problems. Someone I know said she saw her in a convenience store one evening with her kids, and this person told me she was acting very drunk. Apparently, the kids were trying to get her to leave because she was embarrassing them.
This is purely speculation on my part, but I wonder if their dad found out how bad things were and was trying to get custody. I do not know this to be true, but it would make sense given what people are saying around here. Also, substance abuse can induce psychosis and might explain why she murdered those officers and endangered her young daughter’s life.
I want to make it clear that my thoughts should NOT be interpreted as sympathizing with the murderer. She made her choices, she killed two good men, and she traumatized her child. She is a TPOS.

My dad was a cop for 30+ years and he came home to change uniforms one evening because he had gone to an apartment building with a DHR worker to take a kid/s away from their mother. The mother was about 350 lbs and I guess was expecting the situation and came bursting out of the apartment and nearly threw my dad off the 2nd floor balcony outside her door.
I was like "Well did you not expect a fight when you went to take the woman's kid?" His response was "Yeah, but I didn't know she was that damn big."

I'm glad your dad made it out with a good story.
And thank him for his service.
You kind of answered my question. Cops usually prepare themselves when parents are faced with losing their kids.
Just sucks all around. I'm not doubting the cops response at all but I wish they could have gotten her safely detained before she knew DCFS was on the way.

Don't know if he is the father of the little girl, but her ex is in prison for molesting a child.
Ex husband in Prision

I hope he’s not for the kids’ sake. It sounds like this woman has a history of making terrible life choices.

Wow. So many layers to this story.

I wonder if at any point during the 30 minute conversation with Anderson and call to family services these cops were told about earlier call and having a gun. I am sure they ran plates, had a name, and were in contact with dispatch.
