Been in south MS for almost three years and loving every minute of it. I am not on the coast but can be there in 40 min. Truly is God’s country. Low crime, cheaper houses/land and friendly people. The demographics are quite nice as well.

I'm sure it's nice, but you need to get out and see the country if you think this.

Yeah... you can drink a Hurricane and watch a football game in Satan's Country, and there's great skiing in Moroni's Country.

Nice area in the middle of everything

But seperate from everything as well. It's magically 30 min. from everywhere. It's fine if you don't mind driving to and from somewhere 3 times in a day.

Hattiesburg is not South Mississippi and it's far from Gods country.

BSL is a decent town, but the “beach” as it is is almost a negative. I wouldn’t get in that water to save my life.

I've spent many hours in it and I'm fine. But I spent 50 years in S Louisiana swamps and grew up drinking rusty well water.

I don't know why I would need to go anywhere three times a day, but I'm glad not everyone wants to live there. We've got Rouse's, a few places to get something to eat, the Lazy Gator is pretty fun, and as the dude before you posted, a sweet Dairy Queen.
It's a place for families and retirees, not Spring Breakers.

You might not but it's probably the case for most. Running kids to school, going to work, athletic practice, social activities for the kids or you, etc... all likely to take place somewhere else than Diamondhead. It can be a great place to live but it's pretty isolated.

I can see that. Schools are in the Kiln, have to go to Waveland or BSL for fresh shrimp or restaurants or a walk on the beach, I get it. If you fit the major demographics, though, it's a pretty dang good place.

absolutely. It used to have a really good Chinese restaurant in the strip where the grocery store used to be.

I can remember when the only options for food were Dairy Queen and that Chinese place. Then came Blimpie. Then Burger King. D'head didn't even have a stop light back then.

It’s HOA and it’s in influx right now. They are going through a lot of changes
