I’ve been buying the insignia brand from Best Buy. I like them better than my Samsung. Just bought one for the master BR, 50” for 229$.

TCL is great bang for buck but Samsung, LG, Sony are still the best in the segment. Just depends on how hardcore you are about picture quality as the average person will barely be able to tell the difference

This is one of the TVs I was interested in. How is the user interface? Is it easy to use

We already had an 4K Apple TV connected to the old TV. So we use it to stream. The built in interface on the TV seems ok and a bit klunky to move around in.

The biggest issue with the TV is it doesn’t do HDR worth a shite. The images are way too dark and washed out. So I turned HDR off on the Apple TV. The sound quality is good. But we already had a soundbar. So we use that most of the time. All in All, it’s a great TV for the price.

Yeah I just switched from LG to TCL. I used to only have LG's but as a smart TV, they are simply behind the rest. No google store to DL apps is a killer for me

Picked up this TCL TV before Christmas and we like it so far. Made some minor tweaks in the setting, but anything is an upgrade from my previous TV in the living room. I didn't even have a smart TV and was using an xbox 1 hooked up to an old LG to watch Hulu and shite

Anyone bought the Frame Samsung? They look awesome.

I have two of them. They are awesome. May want to think about hiring someone to install it.

I'm sorry to hear that.

The higher end TCLs grade better than some mid/higher tier TVs. You're likely thinking of the 300 dollar ones you get at Wal Mart.

Can't go too big, unless your seating is super close. I went from 65 to 85 and stopped noticing the size within a week or two.

I did. I have a 72" or 75". Wife and I love it, great picture. Also, get a sound bar, really adds bass and clarity .
We have ours mounted over the fireplace - I know, some say don't put it there but we like it there. A feature of The Frame TV is when not in use you can decide what art you want on it. A lot of it is free, some you have to pay for. You can also put your own art or pictures on the screen.

With these big TVs, when not in use, you have this gigantic black hole in the wall. With The Frame you have artwork.

TCLs are highly rated budget TVs, and quality is mostly consistent throughout their line of models.

Have a 65 inch TCL roku which is roughly 3 years old and need a second TV. Older gen is like 600 but there are new 75 inch to 85 inch for $1000 and tempting. Is it too much TV?

In general it is hard to go to big with a panel. We watch a 138" diagonal (120" wide) 16:9 screen in the theater from ~12 feet away and we could have gone slightly bigger. This is slightly closer than the THX viewing distance of 15.4 feet. The 85" in the great room at ~9 feet seems positively small.

Be careful with the bottom model of TVs of a particular size most of them have pictures I find near unwatchable and have limited adjustments to get them "right". The model up from the bottom is usually much better. Use Rtings for straight forward recommendations.

Also note 2024 is going to be the year of democratizing the 100" panel. Hisense and TCL both have 100/98" TVs currently available for $2k. Toward the end of the year you should see better models coming on line for very similar price points.

I actually only buy TCLs now. I had a 55 inch outside during hurricane Laura and it was covered in insulation and shite... turned right on and is still trucking on the back patio

I have had one on the back porch for 3 years and it works as good today as it ever has. Its 60" and I think we paid less than $200 for it. For sure less than $300.

Hisense has a 110" coming this year. Tcl has a 115" coming this year.

They will have my attention when LG, Sony, or Samsung brings a 98/100" panel in for under $3k. While TCL and Hisense make good TVs for great prices I avoid the Chinese manufacturers out of principle. Plus 100" (88" wide with bezel) is about as wide as I can go in the great room the TV is between two windows and the trim is about 90" apart and overlapping it would look odd.
