The Advocate

quote:

The shooting occurred around 3 p.m. across from BREC’s Cadillac Street Park and just down the road from a school in the Zion City neighborhood.

The truck was found near a group of apartment buildings. Residents of the building said the area is typically quiet and safe and they didn’t recognize the victim or the vehicle.

Zion City and safe don't belong in the same article.

5-6 days without a murder is a pretty good run. And yeah, there's nothing safe about that area.

This would never happen in North Baton Rouge. Very safe and a great place to raise a family!

There’s been other shootings, this was just the one where they finally aimed well enough to kill someone.

Meh, probably just haven't found the ones killed before then.

Crime in NBR has become normalized to the point that only 3-4 murders a year in a neighborhood is considered "safe".

It's in between Mickens and Plank Road. There are a few middle class black neighborhoods off of Mickens right near there. I think that's where Gravy lives. There are a bunch of project houses/slums off of Ford Street right there too. It's not a safe area at all.

I can’t believe covid is still causing all this.

It’s 2021, i need Broome to tell me what could possibly be cashing murders now that it’s a new year.

In fact, where is gravy? He always has a good take on this. The council being racist is probably a cause also. I’m glad Chauna Banks opened my eyes to that
