kind of amazing what happens guys when you actually TRY to engage the people and get them out to vote
instead of accepting defeat and buying the candidate you hope to control

Interested to see what the demos look like for this election, it’s not exactly scientific but I talked a lot of people I know that never seem to vote in the local stuff either early voted or were making a point of it to go out and vote Saturday.

Wonder how the usual suspects are handling this news?

I think the sub-turnout numbers paint a pretty clear picture. Turnout for the parish-wide mayor's race was 37.5%. For the heavily white/Republican metro 1 district it was 40.2%. For the heavily black/Democratic metro 2 district it was 30.4%. And for the heavily white/Republican StG tax vote, turnout was a relatively whopping 45.7%. I think Broome might have been in trouble even without what appears to be abnormally high white/Republican turnout, but I think it's responsible for why she got raked by 8%.

I said it was a myth, and a white candidate could win with the right turnout. I posted the voting demographics. They wanted people to accept the myth and stay home.
Well this time the Dems stayed home. Broome obviously pissed them off too.
Now it’s on Sid. Obviously he will need help. Kip chose Walter Monsour to help him. Sid needs to find his Walter.
Then he needs to sit down with the Police Chief and people like Sid Gautreaux, Pat England and Greg Phares and pick their brains.

If you want to spend the time you can go look at the precinct data on the LA SOS website. Knowing that, plus the general demographics of each precinct can give you a general idea of the demos.
Like I said, the GOP used their own incompetence to fall arse-backwards into a win. In the 2016 and 2020 elections SWB was basically the only viable Democrat/black candidate on the tickets (Denise Marcelle wasn't getting any meaningful portion of the Democrat/black vote). In those races there were multiple white Republican candidates that all split up the vote. That meant the supporters of the losing R candidates didn't show up to vote in the runoff.
This year Sid was the only viable R candidate on the ballot. Not because of some great strategic planning by "conservatives". It was because "conservatives" abandoned their party to try to get the "best" D candidate elected. What they ended up doing was splitting the D/black vote and consolidating the R vote behind one candidate.
Great job morons! You screwed up 3 straight elections. Only this time your complete incompetence actually worked in your favor.
The 2028 GOP mayoral campaign manager...

Oh no doubt broome was in big trouble, which just makes Ted’s failure all the more hilarious, he had it all set up perfectly for him.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Before this, Sharon had never lost an election in her career. While a lot of the local Democratic machine seemed disenchanted with her, running against the person who "put you there" is considered the cardinal sin of the black political establishment. So while I think Broome was the weakest candidate of the three in a vacuum, she had an extremely strong base, which was enough to get her into the runoff. But as we can see, her base wasn't enough. I actually think Ted would have won a nail biter had it been Ted vs Sid, but that's just speculation and we'll obviously never know.

I’m one of the ones who did not believe for a second that any white candidate could unseat an incumbent black mayor in BRLA in 2024. Glad to be proven wrong
low black turnout and a determined white turnout made all the difference. It is a testament to just how shitty a mayor she was that she could no longer motivate the machine to get out the vote for her. That’s frankly unprecedented
maybe there is hope after all

James ran a terrible campaign.
It was like he didn’t know whether he should cater to the disenchanted Dems, or to Republicans.
On the other hand Sid said he was about change and tried to appeal to all voters.
