My dad got pulled over, told the cops he had a CCR, and the guy immediately drew down on him and called for all the backup be could get

Seems a little extreme- I was pulled over for speeding last week while carrying - when I notified the officer he asked me to keep my hands visible and exit the truck. Once I did this he asked where my firearm was, he removed my firearm set it on the hood and continued with the stop. At no time during this interaction did I feel the need to be reaching any where in my vehicle or on my body for anything. The officer never drew his weapon, did not call for any back up, I remained outside of the truck while he wrote a downgraded ticket for cooperating. He asked me to remain outside my truck and not retrieve my weapon until he was back in his vehicle. Whether you are pro / anti police in a situation where you are carrying a firearm it is also your duty to obey an officer for both your safety. All we see is the aftermath we have no idea what happened prior to the video.

I know I would not think of filming anything with the cops if something happened.

But I get why black people are quick to film something with the police. It is crazy how calm she is but who knows what she has seen in her life.

The cops sounds like he knows he fricked up or he is coming down from the super intense situation where he thought he was going to die and realized he just killed somebody.

so punishable by death?

the cop was obviously scared and paniced and handle the situation very poorly

Again, a lot of people here are making huge assumptions based on a video right after the incident of an involved party that obviously is of the makeup that could play this to her advantage. I'd wait until more footage comes out (and it will) and get more of the story before crucifying this cop.

Way too level headed, we should take the woman's word as conclusive evidence.

just seems like if a person was upfront enough to tell you about the gun and his license that you should be a little less on edge and trustworthy?

i posted a big "don't resist" post on FB yesterday and within the convo i specifically talked about guns. it doesn't matter who you are, but if a cop who doesn't know you pulls you over and hears you have a gun it changes the situation greatly. if you have a gun and don't tell him, if it's discovered then the situation will go defcon fricking 1

if you have a gun, don't tell the cops, and then legitimately resist, if they find the gun while you're resisting you're almost assuredly getting shot. that's the worst thing you can do when getting arrested

Why isn't this taught in the academy

Driver : I have a weapon in my vehicle/on me, officer

Officer : thanks for letting me know. In the interest of both of our safety, would you mind exiting the vehicle and allowing me to secure your weapon until we're finished

and if the guy did reach to show the cop his license, we are all just ok with the cop shooting him? no harm, no foul?

If the cop told him not to reach for anything then I'm siding with the cop.

I'm quite certain he should be trained to secure that gun first, and not ask for ID.

Then how do you get your license out when that cop instructs you to? Pretty fricking confusing if you ask me.

You are talking as if you know for a fact that the cop asked for his license.

Its simple. Try and stay with me.

Cop- I need to see your license
Driver- Ok but I have a gun in my waistband. Its legal and im licensed to carry
Cop- Ok sir, please keep your hands where I can see them and away from your gun. Where is your license?
Driver- In my wallet in my back pocket
Cop- Ok, for my safety and yours im going to ask you to step out the vehicle keeping your hands visible
( Now out of the vehicle and and more visible)
Cop- ok sir, if you don't mind Id like to retrieve your wallet from your pocket for you so there is no mistake on my part or yours
Driver- ok cool

Cop gets wallet, driver keeps hands in a visible area not reaching near his gun and everyone stays safe.

That response was just generalized to the guy that just said, "simple, don't reach for anything"

Yeah, we don't know, but I'm not inclined to think the guy notified the cops he was a CCR, and then went for a gun with a 4 year old in the back seat.

Your shtick is pathetic. This is an entirely different situation than the BR one, but that won'ts top you from being a complete moron about it.
