A Baton Rouge father and his two sons were arrested after the sons shot and injured a retreating man who they said had been attempting to rob them, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said.

The shooting took place Friday around 4 a.m. in the 6500 block of Sumrall Drive, according to booking documents. After a disturbance was heard beneath the carport, Willie Profit, 50, and his two sons, Willie Holiday, 26, and Kameron Profit, 20, exited the house through the front door and armed themselves with handguns to confront the intruder.
quote:

They surrounded the structure beneath the carport and called out to the intruder, pointing their guns at him, according to documents. They then began to "rough up" the man; Holiday struck him with his handgun, after which the gun went off and hit the shed.
The intruder then fled the property, "posing no imminent threat," documents say, while Holiday and Kameron Profit chased after him and fired multiple rounds in his direction as he ran down the road.

The man was struck and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Willie Profit and his sons then picked up multiple shell casings from the ground after the shooting in an attempt to hide them, documents say.

Holiday was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, aggravated battery and obstruction of justice. Kameron Profit was booked on one count each of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and obstruction of justice, and his father Willie Profit, was booked on obstruction of justice. All were booked Friday evening. Notice the advocate doesn’t name the intruders

they were fine up until this point. If they wanted him dead they should have shot him immediately while he was under the carport

Bringing charges against victims who were put in this situation by none of their own doing.

Never shoot a person in the back if they are trying to break off the robbery/fight/whatever.

The race of the father and sons aren’t mentioned so that means we know they aren’t white.

They made it their "own doing" by shooting a fleeing person.

It's just common sense. You don't kill or attempt to kill a person that is not threatening your life.

Take a CC class if you want to learn how to handle situations and keep yourself from being turned into the perp.

They will get off. No jury will convict them

Guy where I worked was on work release and we would smoke on break. He had done 20 years and finally go on work release. A guy was beating up his brother and he picked up a 2x4. The guy ran and he ran after him killing him. He said he would have barely got any time at all if he would not have chased him.

I would not convict. Jury nullification for this.

Agreed. Then they started picking up the shell casings. Nope.

Tbh they were probably fine up until this.

quote:

Holiday and Kameron Profit chased after him and fired multiple rounds in his direction as he ran down the road.

And then this is what did them in. Not much excusing this imo.

I understand wanting to defend your home, and possibly even not wanting the perp to get away so that he can just go Rob another house, but this is not how you go about it.

But I do have a question for the OT lawyers. Would it be legal to hold this guy who just attempted a break-in at gunpoint as to not allow him to flee until the police arrives.

Yes that’s be fine. Of course if the guy you’re holding at gunpoint backs away and tries to exit in a non threatening way, the Law doesn’t allow you to shoot him.
