The proposed $5 million settlement in the civil suit filed on behalf of Alton Sterling's five children is off the table for now, but one member of the East Baton Rouge Metro Council said she plans to reintroduce it for consideration at the end of October.

But Councilwoman Chauna Banks sad she plans to introduce the measure once again for a hearing at the Metro Council's Oct. 28 meeting. She said in an interview that she plans to hold events across the parish ahead of the vote to better inform the public on the merits of the settlement.

"What I plan to do is have a series of community meetings — north, south, east and west — that will be in-person and present the information that I have as one-twelfth of the council," Banks said.

She said she plans to focus on what she called the "gross neglect" of the Baton Rouge Police Department in hiring a "rogue cop" like Blane Salamoni, the police officer who shot Sterling.

So, she didn't accept the results of the vote the first time? Democrats are fricking sick.

She seems really eager to see this piece of human garbage's family get a payoff.

What's in it for her?

Sounds like a great opportunity for EBR residents who are not in her district to ask questions of the learned Ms. Banks.

Thank God that Loupe is term-limited, so he will be out. That said, one of Broome’s lackeys will take his spot because nobody else ran.

Chauna Banks is hell-bent on giving tax payer dollars to the Sterlings. I knew something was going on when it was announced that the MC has to vote again.

Because Golden Corral remains closed in SE BR and that is where she had planned to hold her Q&A session for the SE portion of parish.

Not sure how this works but if it went to court and the court sided with the family. All that the family would have is a judgment against the city/parish. And the city/parish would just tell them to pound sand and get in line. Because the judgement would have little bearing on the city parish because all other city/parish bills/obligations need to be paid first and then the judgements come next if there is any money left in their annual budget.

Doesn’t the state do the same and has a long backlog of judgements against the state where people sued because of things like a faulty road design or other negligence?
