Is BR to NO downtown worth the drive for 3 days a week of in the office?

3 days isn't too bad. They are going to start widening I-10 between Prarieville and Gonzales soon. That's going to suck.

Sam Kinnison had a take on this which I think may be more effective.

Line them all up, start asking the first one in line if he has any family who can take care of him, and skills, any ambitions, etc.

If they can’t come up with anything, shoot them in the head. The rest of the line may decide working at McDonald’s is an option.

A lot of men do. It’s called marriage.

I mean I don't really think that's the issue with the large majority of those in these camps.

Louisiana’s homeless population is quite low compared to other states.

I saw all the bags of trash they had gathered up from the camps. I guess they were waiting to be picked up.

My concern is that if the encampments are cleared where do the homeless then relocate to.

If there are no consequences and they are not detained for illegal behavior....they just move. So the taxpayers have to pay to clean it up every few months.

The drug use often causes mental illness.

No, BR cleared 6 tents. The big encampment is on the other side of the soundwall of the access road from siegan to the mall. If you drive that way, just look to your right and you will see about 20 tents setup. If they wanted to solve the problem, they'd shut down the methadone clinic off of riegar road that is about 1/2 mile from an elementary school.

BR is not gonna do anything but exacerbate the situation.

And let’s be honest, they aren’t homeless because they are smoking pot. This is opioids and meth people.

Absolutely. This is choice driven homelessness, and like other said, if they wanted help, they'd go see a shelter. But shelters dont' allow drug use, therefore, they camp and people keep giving them money when they panhandle.

This isn't meant as an attack but the administrative overhead and impossibility of this solution is ludicrous.

One of the most disturbing sights I've seen was a tent city set up under the interstate overpasses in downtown Atlanta. A little toddler was standing all alone outside a tent barely a few feet from speeding traffic.
Baton Rouge currently would be hard pressed to top that.
