Unless Lester is a cop, this has no bearing on what he was arguing. I agree that it is a scarier time than usual to be out in the world as a police officer. As a normal citizen? Not really.

I know, I just said in my lifetime . There's a pattern forming which is different from an isolated incident

I live in Baton Rouge, LA. Lester is correct. You can push stats all you want. Reality? I'm much more careful and concerned about where I'm going, what I'm doing, and what's going on around me than ever before. I feel the same way about my family, and there whereabouts.
Have I quit functioning? Absolutely not. But if you want to know the reality of living in BR right now, it's that the average person does not feel as safe as they did.
And I believe that same feeling is true in other parts of America, especially where BLM has a visible presence.

Look at this board. It's infected. We agree.
You're living in a bubble if you believe there isn't an unsettled racial environment brewing right now.

Yea cause the people in Orlando and in Paris & Nice weren't civilians.

Was that the first terrorist attack in history?

Yeah. I make sure not to play on my phone and post on TD while pumping gas or waiting in line at the store nowadays.
Gotta keep your head on a swivel.

They've had their two worse massacres within the past 50 years about 8 months apart.

Don't you live in Alaska?
If all you do is listen to idiots on facebook and divisive TV/radio talking heads on both sides of the coin of course you'll be paranoid and think American is on the brink of civil war. The reality is that there are literally millions of perfectly harmonious interactions that take place between people of all races and socio-economic backgrounds everywhere across the country every single day. But continue to get played like a fiddle by the mass media and social media if you so desire. I'll continue to see things as they truly are.

you don't know the strife he has to moderate between the polar and the brown bears.

How does it feel to know that some people are looking at BR as a target and not as a city? Does it feel safe?

The most diverse neighborhood in the USA is in Alaska.

I do none of the above. But people are noticing a heightened racial awareness going on. If you haven't, you're definitely not grounded or live in a socioeconomically stratified area.

I have adult sons, when a lot of this started going down, I told them just to constantly remain aware of what's going on around them. It's not about being paranoid, or anything like that. But just told them to concentrate on being aware of their surroundings at all times when they are out in public.

Well put..... There are just certain places that you don't go. Sad but true. I have no reason to come to Baton Rouge except for work. And that's in Choctaw dr. Not the nicest part of town but I won't fear going to work. Nor will I go down plank road after midnight. Sadly any white person that does this is in danger.

things like this have happened before in our countrys history. look at the 60s and 70s.
Posted on 7/18/16 at 11:52 am to Lester Earl
The point is if you go back and live in the 70's, sure you'll avoid the terrorist attacks, but you'd be more likely to be harmed by a more down to earth sort of violence. Like a random armed robbery or the such. Because crime was worse then.
I personally would be more worried about those sort of times than if I'm gonna be in the next mass shooting.

Unless you are a robot, computer server, or internet blowhard, it doesn't feel AS safe.
