To find the most affordable metros in America, we took the 100 most populous metropolitan areas across the country and weighed them based on 10 different metrics. These metrics were then sorted into three crucial categories:
Financial Affordability (60%): Since daily expenses impact your overall financial freedom, this section holds the most weight. We examined the average annual wage, wage growth from 2022 to 2025, median monthly rent and utilities, the rent-to-income ratio, and the overall cost of living.
Opportunity & Access (24%): An ideal city should provide both community and solid career prospects, so for this category, we measured employment growth, the percentage of young adults aged 22 to 34, and rental availability.
Entertainment & Dining (16%): Finally, independent living should include activities beyond work, so we also tracked the per capita rate of arts, recreation, restaurants, and bars.

If they're including Round Rock to San Marcos for Austin then Baton Rouge should include Watson to Donaldsonville. Might vault it to number one!

Plenty of affordable housing on streets named after presidents and Indians. Hell, houses are free on streets named after Indian Presidents.

I find it hard to believe NOLA is 13th. It's insanely expensive especially given the lack of decent jobs.
